Abstract: A method for operating a user interface and an electronic device using the method are provided. The electronic device has a touch screen that displays the user interface, and the user interface includes at least one operable object. The method includes: detecting a first touch through a sensor located on a side of the touch screen to obtain a first touch signal corresponding to the first touch; if the first touch signal continuously exists, detecting a second touch through the touch screen to obtain a second touch signal corresponding to the second touch; determining a target region on the user interface according to the first touch signal and the second touch signal; moving the at least one operable object in the target region to a specific region on the user interface at a specific speed.

Abstract: A portable apparatus and a method for adjusting a window size thereof are provided. The portable apparatus includes a touch screen and a motion sensor. In the method, a touch operation performed on the touch screen is detected. When the touch operation is detected, a rotation angle and a rotation direction of the portable apparatus relative to a reference axis perpendicular to the touch screen are detected by using the motion sensor, and whether the rotation angle is over a threshold is determined. When the rotation angle is over the threshold, a size of a window displayed on the touch screen is adjusted according to a touch position of the touch operation and the rotation direction.

Abstract: Presented herein are techniques to enable a user of an electronic device to re-arrange icons displayed on a display of the electronic device. In one embodiment, a method includes detecting a first movement of the electronic device, detecting a second movement of the electronic device, and in response to the first movement and the second movement, re-arranging groups of icons displayed on the display of the electronic device.
