  • Publication number: 20060209230
Abstract: A double-sided LCD (200) device includes an LCD panel (201) having a main-display area (208) and a sub-display area (218). A first light guide plate (204) is disposed corresponding to the main-display area. The first light guide plate has an emitting surface facing toward the main-display area, and an incident surface adjacent to the emitting surface. A first light source (205) is arranged opposite to the incident surface of the first light guide plate. A second light guide plate (214) is disposed corresponding to the sub-display area. The second light guide plate has an emitting surface facing toward the sub-display area, and an incident surface adjacent to the emitting surface. A second light source (215) is arranged opposite to the incident surface of the second light guide plate. This configuration can decrease an overall thickness of the double-sided LCD device.

  • Publication number: 20060139510
Abstract: A liquid crystal display device (1) includes a liquid crystal display panel (10), a flexible printed circuit (14), and a frame assembly (16). The liquid crystal display panel includes a first substrate (102), a second substrate (104) opposite to the first substrate, and a liquid crystal layer (106) disposed between the first and second substrates. The flexible printed circuit is electrically connected to the second substrate. The frame assembly receives the liquid crystal display panel, and includes a conductive element (176) electrically connected to the flexible printed circuit. The liquid crystal display device includes the conductive element electrically connected to the grounded flexible printed circuit, which enables to conveniently prevent the liquid crystal display panel from being damaged by static electricity.

  • Publication number: 20060126361
Abstract: An exemplary backlight module (5) includes a light guide plate (54) having a light incident surface (546), and a circuit board (62) disposed adjacent to the light incident surface. A pair of protrusions (544) of the light guide plate engages in a pair of fixing holes (524) of the circuit board, thereby fixing the circuit board and the light guide plate together. The backlight module may further include one or more optical films. In such case, the above-described fixing means may further include a plurality of side-blocks or a plurality of corner-blocks integrally formed on a light emitting surface of the light guide plate. The side-blocks or corner-blocks enable the optical films to be tightly held on the light guide plate without gaps therebetween.

  • Publication number: 20060120112
Abstract: A backlight module (3) includes a light guide plate (2) and a light source (36). The light guide plate includes a light guide portion (20) and a frame portion (22) integrated with the light guide portion. The light source is arranged within the light guide portion. The light guide portion includes a light incident surface (240), a top surface (244) adjacent to the light incident surface, and a bottom surface (242) adjacent to the light incident surface. Each of the top and bottom surfaces may include an array of light diffusion concavities (246) or protrusions. The backlight module has a simple, reliable structure, and the cost of manufacture and assembly is reduced. In addition, the backlight module has improved light utilization.
