    Abstract: In accordance with one aspect of the present invention, a combination ratcheting and helical driver is disclosed. In the unlocked position the hand tool coverts downward linear force into rotary motion. In the locked position the hand tool operates as a ratcheting driver. The locking device locks the helical drive shaft of the hand tool in a retracted position such that the helical drive shaft is substantially positioned within the handle body. A locking main body is adjacent to a chuck assembly. The locking main body selectively combines with a shoulder abutment adjacent to the handle assembly to lock the helical drive shaft in the retracted position.

    Abstract: Methods and systems are provided that enable an OFDM transmitter to be used for transmitting conventional OFDM or a form of transformed OFDM. A technique is provided for transforming a coded and modulated sequence of samples prior to an IFFT that enables the transformed sequence of samples to be transmitted using conventional OFDM or transformed OFDM. The selection of a transform function for transforming the coded and modulated sequence of samples may be based on optimizing the transform function for particular operating conditions between the transmitter and receiver. In some embodiments of the invention OFDM and time transformed OFDM are multiplexed in time and/or frequency in a transmission frame. In some embodiments of the invention a pilot pattern is provided in which the pilot are sent using OFDM and data is sent using OFDM and/or transformed OFDM.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for optimizing target error rates for link adaptation in a communication system. The method includes estimating a data rate associated with transmission of a data stream over a communication link. A required target error rate is then selected from a plurality of pre-defined target error rate values based on whether the estimated data rate is within a range of at least one of a plurality of pre-defined threshold values, where each of the pre-defined target error rate values maps to one of the plurality of pre-defined threshold values. A link adaptation parameter associated with the communication link is then selected or updated to maintain the required target error rate and the data stream is transmitted over the communication link using the selected/updated link adaptation parameter.

    Abstract: A method, a system and a base-station for automatically determining delays of data transmitted via Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and inflating these delays in order to reduce jitter and improve TCP throughput in a communications network. A Dynamic Jitter Reduction (DJR) logic/utility operating within a communications node measures delays on a rolling basis in order to capture the delay profile. Based on the delay profile, the DJR utility determines a delay target. The DJR utility ‘inflates’/augments future/expected delays toward the delay target by performing on one or more of the following: (a) using a delay based factor in the scheduler metric for TCP applications; (b) performing fine-tuning of link adaptation schemes; (c) delaying transmission of packets at the transmit or receive buffer; and (d) delaying transmission of a received TCP ACK signal from the media access control (MAC) sub-layer to TCP layer.

The invention has application in manufacture of rigid and flexible printed circuit boards which have a metal substrate, manufacture of a heat conductive substrate for semiconductor devices, and electronic devices. While the use of the invention is described in relation to metal core printed circuit boards, the anodising process and anodised aluminium of the invention may have other applications beyond this technology. The invention also provides a method of manufacturing such an anodised aluminium product.
