  • Publication number: 20130331770
Abstract: A gas-assisted fluid-dispensing device configured to deliver an aerosol onto a surgical site, and methods of use. The device includes a support structure and a fluid chamber. The fluid chamber contains a fluid and has a distal end and a proximal end. A piston is positioned within the fluid chamber. A spray nozzle tip is fluidly coupled to the distal end of the fluid chamber and includes a gas inlet. The tip generates the aerosol with a gas from the gas inlet and the fluid from the fluid chamber. A pneumatic switch has a first stage and a second stage. The first stage permits gas flow through the pneumatic switch and into the gas inlet of the tip. The second stage permits gas flow through the pneumatic switch and into both the gas inlet of the tip and into the fluid chamber.

  • Publication number: 20130245576
Abstract: A spray nozzle for applying a medicinal agent to a tissue. The spray nozzle comprising a tip housing and a valve. The tip housing has a distal end, a proximal end, and a lumen that extends between the ends and defines a lengthwise central axis. The valve has an elongated body that extends through the lumen of the tip housing, along the lengthwise central axis. The valve, being configured to slide within the lumen of the tip housing, in an extended position with respect therewith is configured to disperse the medicinal agent toward the tissue. When the valve is in the retracted position with respect to the tip housing, the medicinal agent is vented away from the tissue.

  • Publication number: 20070183118
Abstract: Ferrules made of nano-titanium for incorporation into feedthrough filter capacitor assemblies are described. The feedthrough filter capacitor assemblies are particularly useful for incorporation into implantable medical devices such as cardiac pacemakers, cardioverter defibrillators, and the like, to decouple and shield internal electronic components of the medical device from undesirable electromagnetic interference (EMI) signals. Nano-titanium experiences significantly less grain growth after high temperature brazing in comparison to commercially pure (CP) titanium and the titanium alloy Ti-6Al-4V. For that reason, nano-titanium is an ideal material for use in implantable medical applications where high strength, structural integrity even after heating and corrosion resistance are desired.
