Abstract: A firmware upgrade method is applied to a terminal device in a subnet. A first terminal device in the subnet downloads a firmware upgrade file from a remote server and broadcasts a first packet to at least a second terminal device in the subnet. The second terminal device in the subnet sends an upgrade request to the first terminal device when the received first packet includes the latest firmware version and upgrade time. The first terminal device then transmits the firmware upgrade file to the second terminal device in the subnet according to a header field and an IP header field of the first packet. The second terminal device retrieves the firmware upgrade file. Each of the first and second terminal devices executes the firmware upgrade file to complete the firmware upgrade.

Abstract: A cable modem stores an original public Internet protocol (IP) address of the cable modem in an original country, and a mapping relationship among a plurality of country codes, a plurality of public IP address ranges, and a plurality of multimedia terminal adapter (MTA) parameter configuration files. The cable modem obtains a new public IP address of a current country in which the cable modem is located. The cable modem determines whether the new public IP address and the original public IP address belong to one of the plurality of public IP address ranges. The cable modem selects one of the plurality of MTA parameter configuration files to configure the cable modem according to the mapping relationship if the new public IP address and the original public IP address belong to different public IP address ranges.

The cable modem receives different packet types from a network, and establishes a BPU for each packet type. After reading one BPU periodically, the cable modem determines whether the BPU has QoS. Accordingly, the cable modem distributes a fixed bandwidth to establish QoS.

Abstract: A switch includes a call record table recording at least one outgoing call. When the switch receives an incoming call, the switch searches the call record table to find a mapping outgoing call with a destination telephone number the same as a source destination telephone number of the incoming call. Then the switch obtains a communication line number of the mapping outgoing call in the call record table, and sends a ringing signal to a local telephone corresponding to the obtained communication line number.

Furthermore, the method includes sending an offering message comprising the client device ID and the IP address to the client device until the client device accepts the offering message in response to the determination that the client device is powered on.
