Abstract: A solution to enhance user experience in video communication and online game playing is presented in a digital data sharing environment for mobile communications devices. A first communication terminal receives video data and game data from a second communication terminal. The video data is from the video communication between the two terminals and the game data is from a game played on the two terminals while the video communication is in session. The first terminal combines the video data associated with the first terminal with the received video data to generate combined video data and combines game data associated with the first terminal with the received game data to generate combined game data. The first terminal determines a presentation strategy to display the combined video data and the combined game data on a display of the first communication terminal and display the combined video and game data accordingly.

Abstract: A solution is provided to enhance user experience by integrating video calls with interactive computer games. A video call with an integrated interactive computer game allows users to enjoy the game play and have more interactions during the video call. Two game players in a video call communicate with each other and play an interactive computer game within the video call. One of the players describes a game scene to the other player according to one or more predefined game rules associated with the game scene. The description is transmitted to the other player in various multimedia formats, e.g., voice, body language and facial expressions. The other player makes a game decision based on the multimedia description.

Abstract: A solution is provided to enhanced user experience in digital media content sharing by inactively combining call setup for a video call with a caller's game performance data. A first communication terminal is used by the caller to initiate a video call to a callee, who uses a second communication terminal to receive the call. The caller plays a computer game while waiting for the call setup. During the call setup, the first terminal periodically evaluates the caller's game performance and generates a ring tone adjustment instruction that modifies an original ring tone played by the callee's communication terminal. The adjusted ring tone indicates caller's emotions. Integrating a caller's game performance data with a video call setup makes the call setup more joyful for the parties and conveys valuable psychotherapeutic value in the video communication between the parties.
