The method comprises receiving, using a wireless controller, data transmitted from one or more wireless transmitters adapted to communicate with a plurality of mobile terminals, receiving descriptive information associated with at least a portion of the received data from the one or more wireless transmitters and providing the received data and the associated descriptive information to a port interface associated with the wireless controller.

Abstract: An auto ID reader and a radio frequency transceiver are supported on a common support having a predetermined form factor, such as that of a scan engine module commonly utilized in hand-held bar code symbol scanners. Common digital processing circuitry is used for processing the signal from the auto ID sensor, and the RF transceiver baseband signal, making a highly integrated and compact arrangement.

Abstract: Described is a system and method for improving integrity and authenticity of an article utilizing secure overlays. In particular, an issuer verifies an identity of a customer and generates a digital representation of an identification document of the customer. The issuer also generates an cryptographic check sum as a function of the digital representation using a predetermined cryptographic algorithm and converts the digital representation and the cryptographic check sum into an overlay to be attached on the identification document. When the identity of the customer needs to be verified, the user converts the overlay into the cryptographic check sum and the digital representation and then checks integrity of the digital representation by decrypting the cryptographic check sum using a predetermined decrypting technology. The user also generates a first digital representation of the identification document and compares the digital representation and the further digital representation.

Abstract: Described is a security envelope with a barcode carrying a digital signature signed by the sender or the first mailman at the entrance point of the postal system. This system imposes non-repudiation on the sender at its location or at its drop-off point. To provide authentication information, the barcode is scanned and tracked at each point from the source to the destination.

Abstract: A method and system for authenticating a roaming device with a network is described. The roaming device initially is authenticated with an authentication server that sends authentication information to remote access points. When the roaming device enters in contact with one of the access points, a local authentication is performed between the access point and the roaming device to allow the device to access the network.

Abstract: A semiconductor device for securely controlling access to a cryptographic processor including a semiconductor package with a biometric data capture device therein operative to acquire data associated with predetermined biometric characteristic of a user and store it as a biometric key, and a processing unit in the package coupled to the data capture device. An encryption/decryption circuit is also disposed in the semiconductor package and is operative to perform encryption or decryption on input data utilizing the biometric key.
