    Abstract: Predictive theft notifications are used to coordinate appropriate responses to persons who are likely to commit acts of theft. Image data is generated and processed in a computer processing device to recognize the presence of a facial image comprising a face of a person. An analysis is performed of data representative of the facial image to determine a biometric match relative to one or more biometric models of facial images stored in a database. Based on this analysis, at least one predictive notification is generated with regard to a future potential theft of merchandise from the secured facility. The predictive notification is generated based upon a determination of the biometric match.

The methods comprise: placing the tag in a first operational mode in which an internal component (“IC”) necessary to facilitate communication between the tag and a tag reader (“TR”) are intentionally disabled; storing in the tag's data store a schedule specifying a scheduled time during which the tag is permitted to communicate with TR; selectively enabling IC at the scheduled time to permit the tag to communicate with TR; performing monitoring operations at the tag to determine when a predetermined condition has been detected; and causing the tag to autonomously perform an alerting function when the predetermined condition has been detected. The alerting function comprises (a) enabling a receiver of the tag to communicate with TR at an unscheduled time, and/or (b) activating an alert by enabling a hardware alerting component provided on the tag.

Building management systems include fire alarm systems, building automation systems and security systems, in examples. Installed devices deployed within the building include audio transducers that detect speech from the occupants, and a management system panel processes the information from the installed devices and processes the detected speech from the occupants. In a fire alarm system, in one example, the fire alarm panel processes the detected speech from fire sensor devices and alarm notification devices as the installed devices. The fire alarm panel and/or its installed devices can identify commands from the detected speech for controlling and testing the fire alarm management system. In embodiments, Artificial Intelligence (AI) subsystems can be further added to the building management systems for control and information services.

Thereafter, one of the remote devices will respond to the first message with a second message (504) by modulating the voltage on the line pair. Energy is selectively harvested from the wire line pair at one or more of the remote devices in accordance with the remote device address specified in the first message.
