Patent number: 12498514Abstract: A two-dimensional light guide has at least three layers, including two layers formed as films have a lower refractive index than a light guidance layer arranged between them. One of the films has decoupling structures for the light. The layers form a film composite in which the light guidance layer is formed as a film. A lighting element can include having such a two-dimensional light guide and a coupled input coupling light guide. A trim part can have a light source coupled with the two-dimensional light guide and include lighting and the input coupling light guide is arranged such that a surface portion is actively lit and a non-light-transmissive surface portion hides the light source and the coupling when viewed from a viewing direction.Type: GrantFiled: January 27, 2022Date of Patent: December 16, 2025Assignee: MERCEDES-BENZ GROUP AGInventors: Hubert Bieder, Eva-Susanne Jaeger, Daniel Betz

Patent number: 10336011Abstract: A method for producing a sandwich component, in particular an inner trim component for a motor vehicle, is disclosed. The method begins with a core layer made from a foamed plastic and a cover layer which includes reinforcing fibers and plastic fibers. The plastic of the core layer has a first melting temperature which is higher than the second melting temperature of the plastic fibers of the cover layer. By the core layer being arranged on the cover layer, a multilayer composite is created. This multilayer composite can be further processed into a semi-finished product. The multilayer composite or the semi-finished product is then heated in a heating device to a temperature which is lower than the first melting temperature but therefore higher than the second melting temperature. Then the heated multilayer composite or the semi-finished product is formed in a forming tool in order to produce the sandwich component.Type: GrantFiled: December 16, 2014Date of Patent: July 2, 2019Assignee: Daimler AGInventors: Hubert Bieder, Tobias Blumenstock, Benno Stamp, Roman Wittig

Patent number: 8945327Abstract: The present invention relates to a sandwich component, which comprises a honeycomb core (1) having a plurality of webs (1?) and at least one cover layer (2, 3), wherein the honeycomb core (1) is made of a cellulose-based material, in particular paper. The cover layer (2, 3) is formed from a fiber-reinforced semifinished product having a thermoplastic material matrix, wherein the webs (1?) of the honeycomb core (1) are partially received into the thermoplastic material matrix of the cover layer (2, 3) at connection points (A) to the cover layer (2, 3) so that the sandwich component is bonded. The invention further relates to production methods for the sandwich component.Type: GrantFiled: December 9, 2010Date of Patent: February 3, 2015Assignee: Daimler AGInventors: Benno Stamp, Sebastian Iwan, Hubert Bieder, Ralph Greiner, Tino Zucker, Wolfgang Nendel

Publication number: 20130236688Abstract: A sandwich component with a moisture barrier and a method for the production thereof. The sandwich component has at least one top layer (2) and one honeycomb core. The top layer (2) has a cover layer (2a) made from reinforcing fibres with a thermoplastic matrix, and the honeycomb has a cellulose-based material and has a plurality of webs (1). The top layer (2) has a barrier layer (2c) made from a thermoplastic material, the melting properties corresponding to the melting properties of the cover layer. An intermediate layer (2b) between the cover layer (2a) and the barrier layer (2c) has reinforcing fibres made from the cover layer (2a) and thermoplastic material of the barrier layer (2c). The reinforcing fibres are permeated by one proportion of the thermoplastic matrix material of the cover layer (2a) and by one proportion of the thermoplastic material of the barrier layer (2c).Type: ApplicationFiled: September 24, 2011Publication date: September 12, 2013Applicant: Daimler AGInventors: Benno Stamp, Tobias Blumenstock, Ralph Greiner, Hubert Bieder
