  • Patent number: 5048888
Abstract: A subassembly for the front and rear region of a motor vehicle, which comprises two longitudinal members to which a subframe designed as assembly carrier is attached by one end region of two elongate carrier parts. The members are together used for energy absorption in the case of a vehicle impact and are fixed by their ends, which project as far as a passenger compartment, with laterally spaced longitudinal members reinforcing the latter at the vehicle floor. After they have been fixed on the longitudinal members, the carrier parts extend freely with a portion oriented approximately in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle towards the passenger compartment and are guided with an obtuse-angled bend about a vertical axis towards the respective proximate longitudinal member and attached to the latter. Near to the bend, these carrier parts are connected in the longitudinally oriented portion by a subframe cross member.

  • Patent number: 4241945
Abstract: A motor vehicle bumper consisting of an approximately U-shaped relatively elastic base body, of an apron made of elastic plastic material which covers the forwardly disposed web of the base body and is drawn around up to the flanges adjoining the web on both sides, and of a cover constructed as decorative strip and covering at least the remaining visible part of the upwardly disposed flange; the cover is thereby pivotally connected with the base body exclusively by fastening elements disposed substantially in the axial direction of the two bumper supports while the upper flange is surrounded at the end face by clamps formed out of the cover within the area of the bumper supports and possibly also within areas displaced outwardly with respect thereto.

  • Patent number: 4208069
Abstract: A bumper support member for motor vehicles which consists of glass-fiber-reinforced synthetic resinous material, is profiled approximately U-shaped and is additionally strengthened by giving the support member a wall thickness that is essentially matched over its length to a bending moment curve calculated from the critical load cases and by providing the support member with fastening elements that are formed-on and/or formed-in for mounting and support thereon of parts such as shock absorbers and towing eyes or hooks.

  • Patent number: 4189177
Abstract: A forward longitudinal bearer supported under angular bending at the end wall of a self-supporting motor vehicle body, whereby the end wall is locally bulged out in the direction toward the respective vehicle end within the connecting area of each forward longitudinal bearer in such a manner that a form-rigid body results; each forward longitudinal bearer is forked in its approach at the form-rigid body and the arms resulting therefrom at least partially surround the form-rigid body.

  • Patent number: 4171143
Abstract: A bumper for a motor vehicle having a support member that extends over the vehicle width and is supported at fixed vehicle parts; a preferably surface-finished cover is provided in the upper area of the support member which is adjoined by a covering member that covers off at least the remaining visible area of the support member; the cover is thereby drawn forwardly up to the end face of the support member and its end-face end area is supported at the support member and is covered off by the covering member.

  • Patent number: 4088357
Abstract: A bumper for a motor vehicle in which an energy absorbing hollow synthetic plastic body member is connected with a bearer securely arranged at the vehicle frame; the bearer is thereby provided with anchoring portions that are directly, form-lockingly connected with the synthetic plastic body member, preferably are embedded therein.

  • Patent number: 4082338
Abstract: A shock absorber constructed as elastomer hollow spring which is arranged between a vehicle bumper and a fixed vehicle part, and which is supported under prestress at these parts; the shock absorber includes at its end near the vehicle a socket having an inner area abutting at the shock absorber and an outer area abutting at the inner sides of sections of the bumper which are directed inwardly of the vehicle; each outer area thereby includes friction structures supported under prestress at the inner sides of the bumper sections.
