  • Patent number: 5107904
Abstract: In a loom having at least two weft accumulators (10, 11) disposed lengthwise adjacent the loom, and a bobbin holder (2) to receive weft bobbins (220, 221), one of the weft bobbins (220, 221) mounted on a table (21) is moved into the operative position to deliver weft yarn (31) to a weft accumulator (10). The bobbin holder is disposed compactly in a space which is bounded by the weft accumulators (10, 11) and transversely thereto by the loom (1) and which is longitudinally adjacent the same and laterally adjacent the accumulators (10, 11). At least two tables (21) with the weft bobbins (220, 221) are received one above another in the bobbin holder (2) and the weft yarn (31) are guided substantially transversely to the loom longitudinal axis from the bobbin holder (2) to the weft accumulators. This arrangement increases the number of weft bobbins which can be stored adjacent the loom (1) without any appreciable increase in the amount of space required as compared with a bobbin holder with only one table.

  • Patent number: 4887649
Abstract: The weft bobbin changer comprises a bobbin turntable comprising a delivery bobbin and at least one reserve bobbin. A sensor continuously monitors the quantity of yarn on the delivery bobbin. Only when the adjustable minimum quantity of yarn on the delivery bobbin has been reached is a piecing-up operation performed to join the yarn of the deliver bobbin to the yarn of the reserve bobbin. The yarn of the previous delivery bobbin being severed between the delivery bobbin and a yarn joint which has been or will be made is such that the previous reserve bobbin becomes the new delivery bobbin. The minimum yarn quantity for high-quality fabrics can therefore be greater than previously without loss of material and the yarn residues left on the bobbin can be further processed in lower-quality products.

  • Patent number: 4784188
Abstract: An air jet weaving machine has a weft deflector (7, 90, 23, 22) to keep the weft yarn away from the shed after the occurrence of a disturbance. The deflector is disposed between the picking nozzle (61) and the weft yarn entry into the weft duct (12). Before the discharge orifice of the picking nozzle (61) in the rear position of the sley (10) a rod-like yarn guide (90) extends as far as the shears (8), deflects the yarn into the funnel (23) and introduces the yarn into the shears (8). Thanks to the provision of the yarn guide (90), the weft yarn can be parted off by a single pair of shears (8) both after a normal pick and after a deflection. The weft yarn (5) is deflected by a blowing nozzle (7) transversely to the picking nozzle (61) by way of the yarn guide (90) and is removed by way of a funnel (23).

  • Patent number: 4541460
Abstract: When cutting the successive weft lengths after they have been inserted into the weaving shed, the tail ends are retained in a clamping device. Thereby shifting the weft lengths in the winding direction of the cloth is difficult. According to the invention this disadvantage is removed in that the clamping device comprises a stationary clamping element and a movable clamping element cooperating therewith and movable in the direction of the beating up movement of the reed.

  • Patent number: 4503889
Abstract: The weaving machine has a device which is movable in the weft direction and comprises a loosening element adapted to be moved transverse to the weft direction and a catching element movable perpendicular to the cloth plane. • Patent number: 4463910
Abstract: The device has a winding drum with thread guide and a rotatable disc having pins for successively moving yarn coils from the drum. The pins are driven by cranks, the crank shafts of which are driven by a second disc provided in eccentric relation to the first disc. Thereby the rotational velocity of the thread guide may be increased relative to that of the pins so that each yarn coil may comprise more windings while maintaining the separation accuracy between successive coils.

  • Patent number: 4450876
Abstract: The impulse transmission of the transporting fluid to the weft yarn may be different, also with yarns of the same type, through different causes, particularly when a switching takes place from one yarn packet to a next yarn packet. According to the invention this switching is now detected in that the yarn section constituting the connection between both packets moves past a detector which emits a signal whereby the feed pressure for the blowing nozzle launching the weft threads into the weaving shed is temporarily varied.

  • Patent number: 4436122
Abstract: The mixing tube of the injector is narrowed at its exit end in at least one direction while retaining the cross-sectional area equal to that of the remainder of the tube. Thereby the directional stability of the thread is improved, while the friction surface presented by the tube to the thread is only slightly increased, exclusively at the tube extremity. The narrowing may be done by flattening the mixing tube end.

  • Patent number: 4372349
Abstract: Each of a plurality of winding drums has a thread guide which is rotatable at a constant speed relative thereto and is arranged to continuously wind a thread around one end of the drum. Each drum has means for releasing successive groups of the resulting windings for withdrawal from the other end of the drum, each such group of windings having a total length corresponding to a weft length. A means for controlling the apparatus to permit withdrawal of a plurality of wefts in succession from at least one drum comprises a device for blocking the withdrawal from said drum of a group of windings which have been released by said releasing means, and means for rendering said blocking device inoperative whenever a group of windings are to be withdrawn from said drum and operative during withdrawal of windings from a drum other than said drum.

  • Patent number: 4372498
Abstract: A device for forming store units from a thread supplied from a yarn packet. The store units are formed on a winding drum between limiting pins which may assume an operative and an inoperative position. A brake means, e.g. brake shoe, is applied to the last part of a thread winding being released from the drum in order to avoid pulls and thereby tension peaks on the thread which otherwise might cause thread failure.

  • Patent number: 4326565
Abstract: Apparatus for inserting successive weft yarn lengths originating from different yarn supplies, e.g. different colors, in a shuttleless weaving machine, wherein two blowing nozzles are mounted pivotably together as an assembly around a fixed point, e.g. on the reed baulk. Thereby the nozzles can be quickly brought into operative position which is important with present high speed weaving machines.

  • Patent number: 4132370
Abstract: A device for forming a supply bobbin from a thread advanced from a yarn supply includes a stationary winding drum having a winding space around the drum and defining an internal chamber and a slit connecting the winding space and the chamber. A rotatably mounted thread guide means for winding yarn on the winding space of the drum is included and a plurality of pins rotatably mounted within the chamber of the winding drum are provided for movement in an axial plane with respect to the winding drum through the slit one after the other. The pins successively exit and enter the chamber of the winding drum through the slit. Means are provided for so driving the pins continuously in a fixed transmission ratio with respect to the thread guide means that the pins exit from the chamber after a predetermined plurality of yarn windings have been formed on the winding space of the drum. The pins separate successive series of yarn windings by each momentarily forming a barrier for yarn windings.
