  • Publication number: 20070282090
Abstract: The invention relates to a two-component polyurethane adhesive based on a polyol component and a polyisocyanate component. An adhesive bond produced using the adhesive between two steel panels coated with cathodic electrocoat has, at a temperature of ?40° C., an impact peel strength as measured by ISO 11343 of at least 11 N/mm. • Patent number: 6884854
Abstract: Condensation products prepared from cyclic carboxylic anhydrides of dicarboxylic acids, tricarboxylic anhydrides or tetracarboxylic anhydrides and difunctional polyamines, in particular polyoxyalkyleneamines, are suitable as a builder component for epoxy resin compositions. The reaction products based on tricarboxylic anhydrides or tetracarboxylic anhydrides are distinguished by having on average more than one imide group and carboxyl group per molecule. The compositions may optionally also contain condensation products obtained from tri- or poly-functional polyols and/or tri- or poly-functional amino-terminated polymers and cyclic carboxylic anhydrides, wherein the latter reaction products contain on average more than one carboxyl group per molecule. These compositions additionally contain conventional rubber-modified epoxy resins together with liquid and/or solid polyepoxy resins and conventional hardeners and accelerators and optionally fillers and rheology auxiliaries.

  • Patent number: 6872269
Abstract: The introduction of vibration energy such as ultrasound into an uncured adhesive matrix during and/or after the joining of substrates leads to the effective dissolution and/or dispersion of adhesion-reducing contamination of the substrate surfaces into the adhesive matrix. In many cases, this can reduce the cost of expensive cleaning processes or quality control measures.

  • Publication number: 20040181013
Abstract: The present invention relates to phenol terminated or aminophenyl terminated products and compositions containing the same. The phenol-terminated or amino-terminated products are produced by reacting a stoichiometric excess of a carboxylic anhydride or dianhydride with a diamine or polyamine, and reacting the excess carboxylic anhydride groups or carboxylic acid groups with at least one polyphenol or aminophenol to form the phenol-terminated or aminophenyl-terminated products. The compounds are preferably utilized in adhesive compositions.

  • Patent number: 6776869
Abstract: A high strength adhesive having a good impact strength at low temperatures, below 0° C., and at temperatures of 90° C. is provided. The adhesive comprises a copolymer having at least one glass transition temperature of −30° C. or lower having epoxy reactive end groups or a reaction product of the copolymer with a polyepoxide, a reaction product of a polyurethane prepolymer and a polyphenol or polyaminophenol and at least one epoxy resin.

  • Patent number: 5084532
Abstract: A reactive hot-melt adhesive is described, which contains a resin component, at least one thermally activatable latent curing agent for the resin component and optionally accelerators, fillers, thixotropic agents and further conventional additives. The adhesive is characterized in that the resin component is obtainable by reacting a) an epoxy resin solid at room temperature and b) an epoxy resin liquid at room temperature with c) a linear polyoxypropylene having amino terminal groups, in which the epoxy resins a) and b) are used in such a quantity, based on the polyoxypropylene with amino terminal groups, that an excess of epoxy groups, based on the amino groups, is ensured.
