  • Patent number: 7021265
Abstract: A unit carrier for secondary units of a motor vehicle internal combustion engine, having secondary unit attachment devices and engine block attachment devices. The unit carrier has a planned deformation point, which allows a relative displacement between the secondary unit and the engine block in case of a vehicle collision, if a predefined force is exceeded. The unit carrier is used in motor vehicles having a front engine arrangement.

  • Patent number: 6772717
Abstract: In a reciprocating piston internal combustion engine with a piston which is displacably arranged in a cylinder and is coupled in to a connecting rod whose movement can be transmitted to a crankshaft via a crank, a transmission element is provided between the connecting rod and the crank of the crankshaft and the movement of the transmission element can be manipulated by means of a control arm for an adjustment of the compression ratio of the engine. The transmission element is coupled to the crank via a joint disposed in the intermediate region between a bearing connection of the transverse lever structure with the control arm and a bearing connection of the transverse lever with the connecting rod, the bearing connection of the transverse lever with the connecting rod, the crank and the control arm being arranged in a predetermined relationship.

  • Publication number: 20040000657
Abstract: A device and a method are for closing a flow duct. The device has a valve which may be pivoted between an open position and a closed position by a valve shaft and has at least one valve wing which, in the closed position, rests against a sealing contour provided in the flow duct. The valve wing is of elastic configuration and the sealing contour or the valve wing is arranged such that first of all a region, at a distance from the valve shaft in the radial direction, of the valve wing comes into contact with the sealing contour when the valve wing is being brought into contact with the sealing contour, and that, during further pivoting of the valve shaft, the valve wing is deformed to such an extent that it rests substantially completely against the sealing contour.
