  • Patent number: 6966096
Abstract: The invention relates to a device to connect a wiper arm (12) to a wiper blade (14) featuring a supporting element (16) holding a wiper strip (20) on which a base element (30, 60) is fastened as the first part of a coupling device, whereby the wiper arm (12) is embodied to be U-shaped and overlaps the base element (30, 60) with its U-shape and whereby holding means (42, 72) are embodied on the wiper arm (12) within its U-shape, which holding means form a second part of a coupling device and cooperate with the first part of the coupling device. It is proposed that the holding means (42, 72) be embodied as articulated means for holding the wiper blade (14) in an articulated manner, which can also transmit a bearing force (44) on the wiper blade (14) to be exerted by the wiper arm (12) on the wiper blade (14) in an operating position and which are at least approximately completely covered by the wiper arm (12).

  • Patent number: 6216311
Abstract: A windshield wiper element for a windshield wiper system of motor vehicles and affixable to a wiper arm, the windshield wiper element having a head for holding the windshield wiper element, a lip adapted to be in pressing contact with a surface to be wiped, an elastic intermediate element through which the lip is connected to the head, the elastic intermediate element, depending on a wiping direction of the windshield wiper element is actable upon by a force acting only on the intermediate element, so that a deflection of the lip in an opposite direction from a wiping direction takes place, the intermediate element at least partly has a material having pietzo-electric properties, so that the force is effected by applying a voltage to the intermediate element.

  • Patent number: 6058555
Abstract: A wiper blade is proposed, which is used to clean windows of motor vehicles. The wiper blade has load bearing frame for a wiper strip placed against the window and displaceable over the window crosswise to the longitudinal extent thereof, and a wind deflector strip disposed on the load bearing frame and extending approximately parallel to the wiper strip, which wind deflector strip has a wind baffle facing into the relative wind, one longitudinal edge of which is located nearer the window than its other longitudinal edge located behind the first longitudinal edge in terms of the approach direction of the relative wind. Universal use of the wiper blade is obtained if the wind deflector strip can be mounted suspended from the load bearing frame or standing upright on the load bearing frame, and in each of the two mounting positions has a wind baffle oriented toward the relative wind.

  • Patent number: 6004659
Abstract: The invention relates to a wiper blade having a head (1) for fastening in the wiper holder bracket, a tilting rib (2), and a lip (3). It is characterized in that the head (1) comprises a stiff polymer, hardened by halogenation, with a Shore A hardness of 60 to 85; the tilting rib (2) comprises a comparatively soft, elastic polymer that is not hardenable or not substantially hardenable by halogenation, with a Shore A hardness of 50 to 75; and the lip (3) comprises a polymer hardenable by halogenation having a Shore A hardness of 60 to 85. The Shore A hardness of the polymer comprising the tilting rib (2) is less expediently by at least two units than the Shore A hardness of the polymer or polymers that form the head (1) and the lip (3).
