  • Patent number: 6354423
Abstract: A method for distributing a flow of bulk material amongst several sub-flows. The method is characterized in that the flow of bulk material accumulates in an essentially vertically oriented pipe. The sub-flows branch off from the accumulated flow of bulk material are led over a horizontal or slightly inclined section so that a bank forms inside and blocks the sub-flow. The bulk material is then removed from the sub-flow by vibration, the bank block being constantly replaced by the particles which slide down correspondingly. A device for distributing a flow of bulk material amongst several sub-flows utilizes a supply container located upstream connected to at least one substantially vertical distribution pipe connected downstream. The distribution pipe has at least one part that branches off with a branch pipe connected thereto and with the branch pipe having a section which is positioned at a slightly smaller downstream angle than the bank of bulk material.

  • Patent number: 6318558
Abstract: The invention relates for separating different electrically conductive particles, especially of waste materials, by means of an eddy-current separation, whereby the supplied particles to be separated are cooled. The invention also relates to an eddy-current separator provided for carrying out said method. The separator has a rotational magnet system and a transport system for guiding the particles to be separated along the magnet system. A cooling chamber through which the particles are guided is located immediately upstream from the magnet system. The conductivity of the non-iron metallic particles is increased by cooling thus allowing differential separation of these materials.

  • Patent number: 6230897
Abstract: An apparatus for separating mixed particles divides the material to be sorted into constituent fractions comprising non-ferromagnetic particles of different electrical conductance. The particles are fed onto a conveyor, e.g. a conveyor belt which linearly moves the particles in a given direction. A rotating magnetic system is arranged below and/or above the conveyor belt. The rotary direction of the magnetic system is chosen so that the direction of movement of the surface of the magnetic system and the direction of movement of the surface of the conveyor belt are different. The fractions of non-ferromagnetic particles which are electrically charged to varying degrees, are thereby divided between a plurality of collecting containers.
