  • Patent number: 6138719
Abstract: The invention relates to an auxiliary blow nozzle for air jet weaving machines which permits a symmetric division of the warp, said division protecting the structure of the warp threads, when the blow nozzle is immersed in the warp. To this end, an envelope curve (5) which describes the free end (1b) of the nozzle body (1) and which has a radius (R.sub.1) runs at an angle (.alpha.) relative to the longitudinal axis (4a) of the approximately elliptic cross-section of a nozzle body end area (1a). The surfaces (6, 7) originating from the envelope curve (5) slope downward on both sides to the outer periphery (4) in a manner similar to a roof, and said surfaces (6, 7) thus enclose an angle (.beta.). The respective surface (6, 7) having a radius (R.sub.2) graduates into the outer periphery (4). A radius (R.sub.3) connects radius (R.sub.1) of the envelope curve (5) to the outer periphery (4), and each surface (6, 7) constructs an arc-shaped surface section (6a, 7a) which slopes downward at an angle (.gamma.

  • Patent number: 6129123
Abstract: A method and a machine to assist the automatic correction of a weft fault in the manufacture of fabric with pneumatically created insertion edges. During the automatic correction of a weft fault, at least one additional air blast from a nozzle drives the weft thread contrary to the weft thread beating-up movement of a reed.

  • Patent number: 6102082
Abstract: A selvage cutter for a weaving loom has a cutter guide (9A, 9B) that causes the cutter to follow the cut fabric edge (8A) dependent on any fabric edge shrinkage locations (SL). The cutter guide has a guide claw (9A) that is elastically urged into contact with the cut fabric edge (8A) by a spring mechanism (14, 14A) which causes the cutting blades (3, 5) to move along a cutting path (8B) that follows the contour of the cut fabric edge (8A), whereby each cut weft thread end (8B) protruding from the cut fabric edge (8A) has the same length and the cutting line conforms to the contour of the cut fabric edge (8A) including shrinkage locations (SL).

  • Patent number: 6050304
Abstract: An air nozzle weaving loom has a prenozzle alignment arrangement for the weft yarn picking. Several prenozzles (8a) having respective blow pipe (8b) are accommodated in a prenozzle block 9 according to an order system (geometric configuration) corresponding to the order system (geometric configuration) of main nozzles (5a) in the main nozzle block (6).

  • Patent number: 5931202
Abstract: A holding and guiding mechanism (5, 5') for connecting shaft drive rods (6, 6') in a loom includes a plurality of parallel guide tracks arranged next to each other and extending substantially vertically and defining a guide curve for a prescribed motion path of the drive rods (6, 6'). The guide curve is preferably formed by a circular guide track for a respective drive rod. The upper end of each drive rod is connected through cooperating first and second couplings to one of the heald frames and the lower end of each drive rod is journalled to a shaft drive (8D) for the shed formation when the respective drive rod is an active rod connected to the heald frame or when the respective rod assumes a passive state in which it is also held in the drive and holding mechanism, but the coupling at the upper rod end is disconnected or decoupled at this time from the heald frame.

  • Patent number: 5664609
Abstract: In a loom having mechanically driven weft thread insertion members, a weaving reed and a guide element for a weft thread gripper cooperate with one another, so that the guide element guidedly runs along the reed to provide an positive guidance for the gripper while it inserts a weft thread. To achieve this, each one of the reed teeth (6) has a profile recess (6D) therein between the upper and lower reed frame members (1A, 1B). The recesses are aligned with each other to form a guide channel across the width of the weaving reed (1). A protruding extension (13A) of the guide element (13) mounted on the gripper (12) is temporarily guidingly connected or engaged with the guide groove as the weft thread insertion members reach into and out of the loom shed.

  • Patent number: 5458160
Abstract: In a method for controlling the pile warp thread tension in weaving terry cloth webs, a thread tension is applied to the pile warp by the spanner beam during partial beat-up operations. The tension is removed or reduced in a controlled manner during each full beat-up motion of the weaving reed and is then reapplied in a controlled manner after the binding-in or interlacing of each pile loop row. An apparatus for carrying out the method includes a spanner beam (7) carried on the free ends of swing arms (6) of which the other ends are rotationally mounted on a supporting shaft (8). A pushing force element is operatively connected to at least one of the swing arms (6) to push the swing arm and therewith the spanner beam in one swinging direction and thereby apply a bias thread tension to the pile warp (4).

  • Patent number: 5322090
Abstract: Tearing of a weft thread between the main nozzle and the insert side of the selvage or insert end of the loom shed is to be avoided when the weft thread has not been properly woven into the fabric. The detection of a faulty weft thread stops the loom and such stopping must not tear the weft thread. For this purpose the signal caused by a faulty weft thread for the loom stoppage is also used for holding available a defined length of weft thread, whereby thread tearing is avoided. The loom is provided with a prespooling device equipped with an electrically controllable thread stopper and a second thread stopper which is adjustable in the circumferential direction and radially on the thread winding body of the prespooling device for providing the defined weft thread length.

  • Patent number: 5070912
Abstract: An air jet weaving loom is equipped with at least one expander element and a spreader table, whereby the spreader table surrounds a spreader in a trough and has an extension (8) in a forward fabric guidance area pointing toward the middle of a weft thread insertion channel, so that the top surface of the extension increases the fabric supporting surface of the spreader table. One expander element (20) is located in the spreader table (7) in a transition region between an edge of the trough of the spreader table (7) and the extension (8). Another expander element (21) may be located along an exit edge of the trough of the spreader table. Both expander elements (20, 21) have a fabric expander profile that extends at least along the margin zones of the fabric.

  • Patent number: 4627473
Abstract: The cover for the retaining member of a temple has a threaded rod either rotatably or fixedly attached to each cover leg. The threaded rod rests on the fabric. The rod preceding the retaining member in the direction of advance of the fabric advances the point at which the spreading effect of the temple becomes operative. The threaded rod affixed to the leg of the cover which follows the retaining member in the direction of advance of the fabric relieves the retaining member of load and thereby decreases the possibility of damage to the fabric. The cover with threaded rods is useful whether the retaining member contacts the bottom of the fabric, with the cover on top, or the retaining member contacts the top side, with the cover below, and the threaded rods riding on the underside of the fabric.
