Abstract: A retractable storage compartment that is accessible by the passengers in the rear portion of a vehicle's passenger cabin is provided. The storage compartment, which is integrated into the vehicle's center console, is mounted on a guide assembly in order to allow a rear passenger to easily open or close the compartment. The compartment may be configured as a simple storage area, or equipped with any of a variety of features such as an insulated ice chest, a refrigerator unit, a fold-out desk, etc. In addition to providing rear passenger access, the compartment may be configured to allow the passengers seated in the front of the car to access the compartment using a secondary, top-mounted door.

Abstract: An outside rear-view mirror suitable for a motor vehicle, particularly for a passenger car of the sports car type, is provided with a housing accommodating a mirror glass plate is connected with a carrying device having supporting arms, which carrying device is supported on a body of the passenger car. For optimizing the rear-view mirror construction, the carrying device and the housing are produced separately from one another, free ends of the supporting arms of the carrying device projecting into the housing and being connected with holding consoles of the housing.

Abstract: A method of fabricating compact alkali vapor filled cells that have volumes of 1 cm3 or less that are useful in atomic frequency reference devices such as atomic clocks. According to one embodiment the alkali vapor filled cells are formed by sealing the ends of small hollow glass fibers. According to another embodiment the alkali vapor filled cells are formed by anodic bonding of glass plates to silicon wafers to seal the openings of holes formed in the silicon wafers. The anodic bonding method of fabricating the alkali vapor filled cells enables the production of semi-monolithic integrated physics packages of various designs.
