  • Patent number: 9118118
Abstract: The present invention provides a high-performance and lightweight helical antenna element and array thereof for use in an aircraft communication system or the like, where stringent spatial restrictions and gain requirements generally apply. The RF performance of the array is enhanced by using ribs and sleeves to reduce the dielectric volume of the support structures of the antenna elements, and by providing apertures within the sleeves of the support structures and between the ribs thereof.

  • Patent number: 7491941
Abstract: A collimator, and in particular a method for making a collimator for use with a small high resolution single-photon emission computed tomographic (SPECT) imaging tool for small animal research. The collimator is sized, both functionally and structurally, particularly smaller than known collimators and appropriately scaled to achieve a highly sensitive collimator which facilitates desired reconstruction resolutions for small animals, as well as compliments other functional imaging modalities such as positron emission tomography (PET), functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), electroencephalography (EEG), and event-related potential (ERP), magneto-encephalography (MEG), and near-infrared optical imaging.

  • Publication number: 20060218481
Abstract: A manual annotation system of multi-modal characteristics in multimedia files. There is provided an arrangement for selection an observation modality of video with audio, video without audio, audio with video, or audio without video, to be used to annotate multimedia content. While annotating video or audio features is isolation results in less confidence in the identification of features, observing both audio and video simultaneously and annotating that observation results in a higher confidence level.

  • Publication number: 20050289142
Abstract: System and methods are provided, which include a presentation device that presents one or more data streams of information to one or more users. Each of the data streams has one or more samples that are arranged a temporal order. A relevancy display has two or more relevance indications, and each of the relevance indications is uniquely associated with one of the samples. The relevance indications are ordered on the relevancy display in the temporal order that corresponds to the order of the samples in the data stream.

  • Patent number: 6381480
Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for monitoring fetal cerebral oxygenation during childbirth. The apparatus includes a tunable source of infrared photons, a probe to access a single location on the scalp of the fetus for injecting the infrared photons generated by the photon source, and for receiving scattered photons reflected from within the skull of the fetus. The apparatus at least has first and second detectors for detecting the presence of photons received through the probe at selected different delay intervals so as to be capable of distinguishing photons reflected from different depths or at different instances from within the head of the fetus.

  • Patent number: 6197036
Abstract: Herniation, including cystocele, rectocele and enterocystocele may be treated with prefabricated repair patches. The repair patches include a natural or synthetic biocompatible material having a shape adapted to support herniated tissue. The patch also contains a plurality of apertures positioned in the central plane of the patch which may permit ingrowth and may also be an attachment site for pexing sutures. The patch may be covered with coating to decrease the possibility of infection, and/or increase biocompatibility.
