  • Patent number: 7632420
Abstract: A method for treating a substrate having a layer or coating of material thereon (such as for example a metal conductor coated with an insulating ‘enamel’) comprises the steps of directing a pulsed beam of laser radiation at the substrate to cause an interaction or adjacent the interface between the layer or coating and the substrate, leading to local separation of the layer or coating. The removal is effected by creating an interaction effect at the interface between the substrate and the layer or coating to create an effect similar to a shockwave which causes local separation of the layer or coating at the interface.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 8, 2004
Date of Patent: December 15, 2009
    Assignee: Spectrum Technologies PLC
Inventors: Adrian Thomas, Jonathan Davies, Peter Hugh Dickinson

  • Publication number: 20040158893
Abstract: The invention provides a plant in which, by virtue of modulation of the expression of a TETRASPORE (TES) or TES-like (TLK) gene, or of modulation of the activity of a protein encoded by such a gene, tetrad formation in the anther is disrupted, or is capable of being disrupted, such that callose cross-wall formation in the tetrad fails to the extent that fusion between two or more of the four microspore nuclei may occur.
    Type: Application

    Publication date: August 12, 2004
Inventors: Hugh Dickinson, Roderick Scott, Melissa Speilman
  • Publication number: 20010052179
Abstract: In a coiling apparatus for measuring cutting and optionally marking a succession of lengths of an elongate flexible such as wire or cable, the leading edge of each of the elements are clamped in the same angular position in a rotary coiling assembly.
    Type: Application
    Filed: August 6, 2001
    Publication date: December 20, 2001
    Applicant: Spectrum Technologies PLc
