  • Publication number: 20240034249
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a mounting arrangement for securing vehicle recovery equipment to a vehicle. The mounting arrangement comprises a strap extending between a free end and a securable end and the strap is secured to the anchor system at or proximal to the securable end. The free end extends around at least a part of the vehicle recovery equipment to retain the vehicle recovery equipment. The mounting arrangement also comprises a releasable connector for securing towards or proximal the free end of the strap. Loosening of the releasable connector deploys the vehicle recovery equipment. The mounting arrangement comprises an anchor system comprising an anchor strap extending around a part of the vehicle allowing the anchor system to be mounted at different parts of the vehicle. Also disclosed is a method for mounting the vehicle recovery equipment to a vehicle.

  • Patent number: 11081989
Abstract: A power generation device is provided. The power generation device can include a magnetic coupler. The magnetic coupler can be associated with a maximum torque output. The maximum torque output of the magnetic coupler can be based on a size of the magnetic coupler. The power generation device can also include an alternator coupled to the magnetic coupling device. The alternator can convert kinetic energy received from the magnetic coupling device into a current. The kinetic energy can be generated by the magnetic coupler using a rotational force transferred across the magnetic coupling device. The power generation device can also include a power converter device coupled to the alternator to shape the current from the alternator such that the maximum torque output is sufficient to cause the power converter to output a threshold current sufficient for operating a well tool powered using the power generation device.

  • Patent number: 10060257
Abstract: Systems and methods of down-hole communication facilitate communication across a mud motor. The systems and methods can employ a hysteresis brake that selectively slows a turbine shaft to thereby produce local pressure pules in a drilling fluid in a predetermined pattern. The hysteresis brake can be operated by providing a relatively small control current to produce a relatively large counter torque, which can be transmitted the turbine shaft. The turbine and the hysteresis brake may be provided below a mud motor, and the local pressure pulses may be transmitted to a receiver disposed above the mud motor while the mud motor is operating. The hysteresis brake can be employed when other communication systems fail, and thus can provide a back-up system to permit a drilling operation to be continued.

  • Patent number: 9975124
Abstract: Apparatus and methods are provided relating to evaporation of solvents from samples and to prolonging the time taken to carry out an evaporation procedure. A cap for engaging with an open end of a sample container comprises an engaging surface for engaging with the open end, and a body portion which extends over the open end. The body portion is preformed to define an opening which provides a fluid pathway between the open end of the container and the surroundings of the container, such that the cap impedes vapor flow from a sample in the container to the surroundings of the container. A holder for receiving a plurality of such caps is also provided and a method of evaporating a solvent from a sample in a sample container is described.
