    Abstract: A process for the production of a product which is enriched in a desired enantiomer of a phenylpropionic acid selected from ibuprofen and flurbiprofen, or their pharmaceutically acceptable salts, which comprises a resolution stage, a recrystallization stage, an optional liberation stage, and an optional salt preparation stage. A substantially racemic mixture of the phenylpropionic acid is contacted with an enantiomer of .alpha.-methylbenzylamine, in specific ratios, to produce the enantiomerically enriched product.
