Patent number: 8657119Abstract: A system and method of publishing digital media content works is provided in which an individual content work is divided into multiple segments, and when a subscriber initiates a subscription to the content work, each individual content work segment is published via email to the subscriber on a fixed periodic basis until either the work is completely published or the subscriber terminates the subscription. The subscriber may interactively access the segments of the digital media content work via directly accessing the publication website or via an embedded link in the published segment. During interactive access, the subscriber may update subscription control data controlling segment publication so that the next segment published to the subscriber will be the next successive segment after the segment being accessed interactively. A table of unique book positions is maintained to control segment publication and thereby avoid excess accesses to underlying subscription data for a subscriber.Type: GrantFiled: January 4, 2006Date of Patent: February 25, 2014Inventors: Scott D. Wolf, Bryan Allan White, Hugh Parker Spain, Bryan S. Carrington

Publication number: 20060252695Abstract: Methods for improving purification and quantification of platelet derived growth factor (PDGF) proteins having structural heterogeneity are provided. Preparation of substantially pure isoforms of these proteins is achieved using TSK sulfopropyl cation exchange chromatography and reverse phase high performance liquid chromatography. A reverse charged capillary zone electrophoresis method enables quantification of substantially pure isoforms of these proteins resulting from endoproteolytic post-translational modifications. Compositions of the invention are substantially purified isoforms of secreted PDGF proteins having structural heterogeneity, more particularly purified intact, single-clipped, and double-clipped isoforms of recombinant PDGF-BB. Pharmaceutical compositions comprising at least one of these substantially purified recombinant PDGF isoforms and methods for their use in promoting wound healing are also provided.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 7, 2006Publication date: November 9, 2006Applicant: Chiron CorporationInventors: Michael Kunitani, An Tran, Hugh Parker

Patent number: 5781720Abstract: A method for automated testing of both new and revised computer application programs which use a Graphical User Interface (GUI). Simulated user events such as keyboard or mouse actions are automatically input into the GUI interface. The GUI is then monitored to observes the changes to the GUI in response to the input. The invention comprises a test script which is written in a high level programming language, a test executive which executes the test script, and a test driver which provides the interface to the GUI. The test script is directed towards operation on logical objects, instead of GUI-specific references. The primary responsibility of the test executive is to convert GUI-independent references into GUI-specific references. The test driver takes the GUI-specific references from the test executive and performs the actual interface to the GUI objects.Type: GrantFiled: August 21, 1996Date of Patent: July 14, 1998Assignee: Segue Software, Inc.Inventors: Marsten Hugh Parker, Laurence Ralph Kepple, Leah Ruth Sklar, David Christopher Laroche
