  • Patent number: 5449586
Abstract: A novel method and apparatus is disclosed for electronically sensing a negative and a positive in a novel integral film structure of the instant development type using light of different wavelengths so as to produce reflected light from the negative and the positive which are indicative of the luminance characteristics and the chrominance characteristics of the image. The novel integral film structure has a filter which allows the negative to be scanned. Specifically, the filter transmits incident infrared radiation to which silver halide emulsion layers are sensitive and blocks the transmission of radiation in the range of wavelengths to which the silver halide emulsion layers are sensitive.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 8, 1994
Date of Patent: September 12, 1995
    Assignee: Polaroid Corporation
Inventors: F. Richard Cottrell, Andrew K. Juenger, Hugh R. Mackenzie, William J. McCune, Jr., William T. Plummer

The novel integral film structure has a filter which allows the negative to be scanned. Specifically, the filter transmits incident radiation in the range of wavelengths other than a select range of wavelengths to which silver halide emulsion layers are sensitive and blocks the transmission of radiation in the range of wavelengths to which the silver halide emulsion layers are sensitive.

  • Patent number: 4937676
Abstract: A compact, handheld portable electronic imaging system including both an electronic imaging camera and hard copy printer are separately housed with respect to each other and readily interconnectable with respect to each other for use either in combination or apart. Means for storing electronic images may be connected to the camera and/or printer housings so that when used apart image defining electronic image information signals may be initially directed for storage by the electronic imaging camera and the storage device thereafter connected to the printer for the making of hard copies therefrom. Alternatively, the electronic imaging camera and printer may be used in combination to provide an immediate hard copy of the image sensed in a manner analogous to that of an instant photographic camera of the self-processing type.

  • Patent number: 4786964
Abstract: Apparatus for improving the quality of an electronic image generated by a charge coupled device (CCD) array that senses scene images through a colored optical filter. The apparatus includes a prism or prismatic filter movable into and out of the path of image-containing light rays impinging on the color filter overlying the CCD array that alternately shifts the scene image between color filters of the CCD array that absorb particular scene image colors and those that transmit these colors to their associated CCDs while in the case of the prismatic filter absorbing the dominant scene color generated by the colored optical filter. Scene image signals generated by a CCD array in this manner are processed such that their spatial relationship with respect to the sensed scene image is precisely monitored and electronically counter-shifted for subsequent scene image reconstruction.

  • Patent number: 4663518
Abstract: An identification card comprises a single media having a plurality of different heat sensitive image forming dye compounds on which are encoded a colored pictorial image of the card holder, colored text, and machine readable digital data. A laser printing method is also provided for activating the heat sensitive image forming dyes to provide the colored pictorial image of the card holder, the colored text and the machine readable digital code.

  • Patent number: 4566015
Abstract: In an image recording apparatus of the type responsive to electrical signal input information representative of a select image for line scanning a photosensitive medium with a linear array of spaced apart light emitting elements to record the selected image thereon, there is provided an adjustable mask for controlling the width and hence resolution of each line scanned by the linear array. The adjustable mask is also configured to accommodate oscillation of the light emitting elements in directions which displace the light emitting elements to overlap the spaces between adjacent light emitting elements so as to provide a continuous line exposure.
