  • Publication number: 20230383857
Abstract: A valve assembly for a fluid management system of a vehicle is provided The valve assembly includes: a valve body having an inner volume defining at least a first chamber, a second chamber, a breathing chamber in fluid communication with atmosphere, and a fluid medium flow path extending through the valve body, the fluid medium flow path having an inlet for receiving a fluid medium and an outlet for said fluid medium, said first chamber being at least partly disposed in the fluid medium flow path. A flow closing member is displaceable arranged within the valve body to control the flow of fluid medium from the inlet to the outlet via the first chamber. The flow closing member is displaceable between an open position, in which fluid medium may flow in the fluid medium flow path from the inlet to the outlet via the first chamber, and a closed position, in which said flow closing member prevents fluid medium to flow in the fluid medium flow path from the inlet to the outlet.

  • Publication number: 20230356699
Abstract: A method of controlling an air compressor of a vehicle. The absolute humidity is determined for atmospheric air entering the compressor as well as for the compressed air exiting the compressor. A liquid water mass formed or evaporated inside the compressor during a defined period of time is calculated. The above steps are repeated in order to calculate a cumulated liquid water mass inside the compressor. The compressor is stopped when the calculated cumulated liquid water mass has returned to zero and the control unit no longer receives a compressed air request.

  • Publication number: 20230182664
Abstract: A vehicle air management system is provided. The vehicle air management system comprises an air tank and a boost air tank. Based on a signal indicative of an air consumption level of at least one air consumer, a control unit is configured to control the vehicle air management system to deliver pressurized air from the boost air tank to be supplied to an air compressor.

  • Publication number: 20230111920
Abstract: A commercial vehicle with a pneumatic system includes an air management system comprising an air compressor (11), a low-pressure circuit configured to store and supply compressed air within a low-pressure range, a high-pressure circuit configured to store and supply compressed air within a high-pressure range, a braking system presenting a usual braking operation with compressed air at pressures in the low-pressure range, and an emergency braking operation with compressed air at pressures in the high-pressure range, wherein the air management system is configured to supply the braking system: for the usual braking operation, with compressed air from the low pressure circuit, and for the emergency braking operation, with compressed air from the high-pressure circuit.

  • Publication number: 20230063275
Abstract: A method for operating an electric air compressor assembly. The assembly includes an electric motor and a compressor which is mechanically coupled to the electric motor and which is capable of providing compressed air to a tank The method comprises monitoring the temperature of at least one component of the electric air compressor assembly and controlling the motor speed as a function of said temperature running the motor at a first speed S1, which results in the temperature increasing; when the temperature reaches a temperature threshold, which is lower than a maximum admissible temperature, running the motor at a second speed S2>S1 until a predetermined desired pressure in the tank is reached.

  • Publication number: 20220325714
Abstract: A method for controlling the rotational speed (S) of an electric motor driven air compressor (2) that supplies compressed air to a pneumatically operated system (5) of a vehicle (1), characterized by the preliminary steps of: a) determining the efficiency (e) of the air compressor (2) for different values (Si) of the rotational speed (S) of the air compressor (2), the efficiency (e) of the air compressor (2) corresponding to the ratio between the pneumatic power (PI) produced by the air compressor (2) and the power (PO) given to the air compressor (2); b) determining one or several specific values (S2, S4) among said different values (Si), for which the efficiency (e) of the air compressor (2) is higher than a threshold value (emin) and/or comparatively higher than those determined for values (SI, S3) close to said specific value(s) (S2, S4); the preliminary steps a) and b) being preferably implemented only once; and characterized by the further repetitive steps of: c) determining the air consumption rate of
