Abstract: A sampler apparatus includes a housing which is adapted for mounting on pressurized conveying lines and a remotely mounted control unit. The housing includes a sampling probe which is extended from the housing to enter the conveying line and collect a sample of material flowing in the conveying line and then is retracted into the housing. An auger is provided to clean out the sampling probe when in the retracted position and force the sampled materials into a discharge tube. The control unit controls the timing of the extension and the retraction portion of the operating cycle.

Abstract: A wood chip sampler is provided which is capable of extracting a repeatable and reliable sample of wood chips or similar particulate material from a product stream. The apparatus includes a sampling probe which has a slot which allows the product to enter the sampling probe. The probe is driven into the product stream with the slot in a six o'clock position, rotated through the twelve o'clock position to allow the product to enter the sampling probe, and then rotated to place the slot in a three o'clock position, and then retracted from the product stream into a housing. Once retracted, the probe is again rotated to place the slot on a six o'clock position, allowing the sampled material to be discharged by gravity into a hopper.

Abstract: A crosscut sampler particularly useful for obtaining samples of flowing granular or particulate material in a pneumatic conveying system including a sample collecting head in a housing connected with the material conveying pipes, the head having a slot-shaped opening extending transversely across the flow passage of granular materials, there being a closure to seal the head and prevent entrance of materials between sampling cycles, the closure for the entrance to the head including a valve element within the head interior and movable into and out of obstructing relation with the entrance to the head, and an air cylinder on the head to operate the closure, the head being mounted on a slide for movement in the housing across the flow passage of flowing materials, and a collecting container to receive the samples from the head.

Abstract: A crosscut sampler attachable into the conveying pipes of a pneumatic or gravity system and including an elongate sample collecting head having a slot-like entrance port and facing the entrance opening of the housing, the head being elongate and tapering divergently from said entrance port and being mounted on a slidable mounting tube slidably extending through the sidewall of the housing; there being a closure to lie flush against the front face of the housing and tightly seal the slot-like entrance when the head is in rest position, an air cylinder for moving the head and mounting tube transversely of the flow passage in the housing and a collecting container for the samples of granular or particulate material.
