    Abstract: The invention relates to an integrated magnetic component for a switched mode power converter, which includes a transformer with two transformer core elements (E2, E3) and at least one choke core element (E1, E4). Each core element (E1, E2, E3, E4) comprises two outer legs (120a, 120b) and a flange (122) which connects the outer legs (120a, 120b) to form U-like core elements. Each choke core element (E1, E4) abuts a flange (122) of one of the transformer core elements (E2, E3). The integrated magnetic component (103) includes a first choke winding (123) arranged on a leg (121.1) of a choke core element (E1) and a second choke winding (124) arranged on another leg (121.4) of a choke core element (E4), where one of a primary (P1, P2) or a secondary winding (S1, S2) of the transformer is connected between the choke windings (123, 124) and where all windings (P1, P2, S1, S2, 123, 124) are interconnected to reduce core losses by flux compensation in order to increase power density.

    Abstract: A magnetic component, with a first and a second U/UR core (U1, U2) assembled to a first O-shaped core assembly, wherein an U/UR core has—according to its shape—a first post and a second post with free ends on one side and a leg connecting the first post and the second post on their other side, wherein the first and the second U/UR core (U1, U2) are assembled with their free ends abutting each other to form the first O-shaped core assembly. The free ends of a third U/UR core (U3) are abutting the outside of the first O-shaped core assembly on one side and that the free ends of a fourth U/UR core (U4) are abutting the outside of the first O-shaped core assembly on an opposite side. In another embodiment, the leg of a third U/UR core (U3) is abutting the outside of the first O-shaped core assembly, wherein the ends of a fourth U/UR core (U4) are abutting the ends of the third U/UR core (U3). In a further embodiment, the ends of a third U/UR core (U3) are abutting the outside of the first O-shaped core assembly.

    Abstract: A forward converter comprises a magnetic component with a transformer and a filter output inductor. Also disclosed is a method for assembly of a forward converter. A first and a second U/UR core are arranged to form an O-core. Windings of the transformer are arranged on the O-core. A bobbin-less U/UR core is arranged to abut the O-core, and windings of a filter output inductor are arranged directly on a body section of the bobbin-less U/UR core. Alternatively, windings of the transformer are arranged on a first section of an E/ER core, and windings of the filter output inductor are arranged directly on a second, bobbin-less section of the E/ER core.
