The target has multiple portions, some of which being disposed closer to the emitter than other portions. The apparatus may further include two control components. The first component includes one or more magnets for guiding the charged particle along the target without impinging on it; the second component includes one or more magnets for deflecting the guided charged particles to impinge upon the target at different locations over time.

The floating diffusion node is configured to store a charge corresponding to an electrical signal obtained by converting incident light by the photodiode. The conversion gain determining unit is configured to compare a magnitude of a cathode voltage of the photodiode with a magnitude of a reference voltage, and output a control voltage based on a comparison result, where the control voltage is used to control the dual conversion gain transistor to be turned on or off.
