  • Patent number: 7035796
Abstract: A system with an accompanying method is provided to improve the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of noisy speech by suppressing acoustic background noise. The background noise consists of narrow band noise from rotating machine, audio signals from stereo-loudspeakers of audio entertainment device, and other ambient noise. In this system/apparatus, a microphone senses the speech intermingled with the background noise, and another microphone senses the noisy background. In addition, a measurement sensor is used to measure RPM (revolutions-per-minutes) of the rotating machine and two wires are used to acquire audio signals from the stereo-loudspeakers of the audio entertainment device. Furthermore, to provide better suppression performance for the acoustic audio signals, the characteristics of these loudspeakers are used to compensate for the distortion caused by the loudspeakers. Adaptive comb filters and adaptive FIR filters are applied to estimate the ambient noise and suppress the background noise.

  • Publication number: 20050203985
Abstract: The proposed invention solves the problem of spoofing the origin to create e-mail spam, virus distribution, and other abuse of the electronic mail. In particular, it solves a notoriously dangerous problem of distributing computer viruses via e-mail allegedly sent from friends, colleagues, and well-respected organizations. The proposed invention defines a comprehensive set of mechanisms and apparatus to reasonably ensure that an e-mail message—when received by an e-mail gateway, e-mail relay server, or the destination e-mail server—has originated at the location and sent by a person (or a program) specified in its “From:” field.

  • Publication number: 20040196831
Abstract: A method and apparatus for establishing additional channels for a call between multi-task user terminals. A multi-task call (MTC) signaling module is used to receive requests for the addition or release of additional channels for a call. Through a signaling network, the module has access to the switches of a hybrid network for interconnecting edge switches connectable to MTC terminals. The MTC signaling module controls establishment or release of the connections between links of the paths through the hybrid network. Advantageously, an MTC terminal through its MTC signaling module can control the addition or release of channels through the hybrid network.

  • Publication number: 20040193602
Abstract: A method and a system for maintenance of engineering change data are provided. A form generation module generates an electronic form for maintenance of engineering change data according to access rights and search conditions input from a user via a terminal device. A verification module compares engineering data before and after being modified by the user to determine if engineering data, unexpected to be changed, are modified by the user; if yes, the verification module generates an alert message to confirm this modification with the user. A transfer module transfers the electronic form with the engineering change data to an associated responsible unit for verification and approval. A maintenance module updates and upgrades version of engineering data in a database and a backend data processing system once the engineering change data are verified and approved. By the above method and system, operational errors and invalid data modification are eliminated.

  • Patent number: 6700976
Abstract: A known cross-talk adaptive noise cancellation apparatus uses two adaptive filters for suppressing the correlated noise in the main signal, which contains wanted voice and unwanted noise, by a reference signal, which contains unwanted noise and wanted voice via cross-talking. A noise canceler is provided in the present invention including some additional parts, such as a voice detection circuitry and a step size decision circuitry. The voice detection circuitry detects whether the wanted voice exists. The step size decision circuitry decides what the step sizes are used for the next update of the two adaptive filters.

  • Patent number: 6476186
Abstract: This invention relates a process for preparing octreotide and derivatives thereof. The starting material, Thr(ol)(tBu)-2-chlorotrityl resin is coupled with the various amino acids. The straight peptide-resin of D-Phe-Cys(Trt)-Phe-D-Trp(Boc)-Lys(Boc)-Thr(tBu)-Cys(Trt)-Thr(ol)(tBu)-2-chlorotrityl resin or D-Phe-Cys(Trt)-Tyr(tBu)-D-Trp(Boc)-Lys(Boc)-Thr(tBu)-Cys(Trt)-Thr(ol)(tBu)-2-chlorotrityl resin was obtained. Cleavage of the peptide from the resin was achieved by strong acid solution.

  • Publication number: 20020107907
Abstract: The present invention provides a system and method for remotely accessing a client in a client-server system. From a browser, an end user enters a URL containing a machine name and a port number. A listening program at the client listening on that port number establishes communication with the browser and invokes a client agent. The client agent includes conventional client functions as well as APIs that allow the client to interface with both the server and the browser. The client agent then serves an applet to the browser that makes the browser appear to the end user as the client machine. The user can then execute client functions from the browser. Examples of the client functions include backing up and restoring files from the client to/from the server, migrating or recalling files, archiving or retrieving files.
