  • Publication number: 20040240529
Abstract: A DTX detection method evaluates soft symbols from a decoding process to evaluate whether a checksum error is caused by an erasure condition or a DTX condition. The inventive method divides the soft symbols or a function of the soft symbols by a normalizing factor that greatly reduces the effect of the overall magnitude of the channel estimates that are used to calculate the soft symbols, restoring a value proportional to the received symbol energy. The method then evaluates this value, rather than the unnormalized value, to determine whether a checksum error for the frame is caused by a DTX condition or an erasure condition. Normalizing the soft symbols to obtain a metric proportional to the actual symbol energy greatly reduces the effect of the overall channel level on DTX detection, making it easier to distinguish between DTX cases and erasure cases.

  • Publication number: 20040235330
Abstract: An electrical connector (1) is for electrically connecting an electronic package with a circuit substrate. The connector includes a base (10) with a locating slot (120) defined therein, a cover (13) slidably attached on the base, and an actuation device (14) assembled in the locating slot for actuating the cover to slide along the base. The actuation device includes a camshaft (140) and an operation lever (141). The camshaft includes a first supporting portions (1403) adjacent to the operation lever and a second supporting portion (1404). A gap exists between the first supporting portion and the locating slot. When the operation lever is accidentally over-rotated beyond a perpendicular position, the camshaft applies a force to the locating slot at the second supporting portion instead of the first supporting portion. This protects the locating slot from being destroyed.

  • Publication number: 20040219818
Abstract: A socket connector (1) for electrically interconnecting a CPU package and a PCB includes a base (10), a cover (13) slidably mounted on the base, an actuator mechanism (14) sandwiched between the cover and the base, and a plurality of terminals (15) received in the base. The base defines an actuator channel (120) having a protrusion block (121) in a middle thereof, and an array of terminal-passages (110) receiving the terminals therein. The actuator mechanism includes a shaft (140) having a protrusion (1402) corresponding to the protrusion block, and a handle lever (141) extending from the shaft. When the CPU package is mounted onto the connector with zero inserted force, the protrusion block is mated with the protrusion to keep the actuator mechanism at a vertical position. The protrusion block increases a strength of the base to protect the base from distortion or damage should it sustain unduly large force.

  • Publication number: 20040192208
Abstract: In a method of canceling interference, a base station selects a known highest data rate user transmission from a received first signal containing a group of user transmissions. The known highest rate user transmission may be configured as one or more frames, each frame including a control preamble and a plurality of encoded sub-frames. The control preamble and encoded sub-frames may be decoded, and the decoded sub-frames may be used for removing interference caused by the known highest rate user transmission to all remaining transmissions of the group.

  • Publication number: 20040009695
Abstract: A central processing unit (CPU) socket includes: a base (1) receiving contacts (2) therein; a cover (3) movably mounted on the base; and an actuation device (4) including a camshaft (41) rotatably engaged between the base and the cover, and a handle (42). The base defines a transverse first channel (12) at one end thereof, the first channel receiving the camshaft therein. A pin (43) extends coaxially from a free end of the camshaft. A recess (131) is defined in a sidewall (13) formed on the base at one end of the first channel. The pin is rotatably received in the recess. Accordingly, when the actuation device is rotated to drive the cover to slide relative to the base, a rotational axis of the camshaft is prevented from being displaced upwardly. Thus the camshaft does not disturb the cover, and correct engagement between the cover and the base is maintained.

  • Patent number: 6057240
Abstract: A method for forming a patterned metal layer within a microelectronics fabrication. There is first provided a substrate employed within a microelectronics fabrication. There is then formed over the substrate a blanket metal layer. There is then formed over the blanket metal layer a patterned photoresist layer. There is then etched through use of a plasma etch method while employing the patterned photoresist layer as a photoresist etch mask layer the blanket metal layer to form a patterned metal layer. The patterned metal layer so formed has a metal impregnated carbonaceous polymer residue layer formed upon a sidewall of the patterned metal layer. There is then stripped from the patterned metal layer the patterned photoresist layer through use of an oxygen containing plasma while simultaneously oxidizing the metal impregnated carbonaceous polymer residue layer to form an oxidized metal impregnated polymer residue layer upon the sidewall of the patterned metal layer.
