Abstract: A method for controlling light-emitting diode (LED) backlight modules applied in an electronic device is provided. The electronic device includes a first display and a second display. The second display includes at least two display areas. Each display area corresponds to one LED backlight module, and each display area displays option icons of an option type. The method includes: determining the file type of a file currently displayed on the first display and determining which of the option types the determined file type corresponds to; determining which of the at least two LED backlight modules the at least one determine option type corresponds to; and outputting control signals to turn on at least one of the determined LED backlight modules. A related electronic device is also provided.

Abstract: An electronic device includes a switching circuit, a hardware (HD) indication unit, a LED module, a software (SF) indication unit, a first control switch electrically connected between a power port, an anode of the LED module, and the HD indication unit, and a second control switch connected between a cathode of the LED module, the SF indication unit and ground. When the electronic device is charged in a powered state, the cathode of the LED module is grounded, the HD indication unit directs the first control switch to turn on and off alternatingly, and the LED module flashes accordingly. When the electronic device is charged in a powered off state, the anode of the LED module is at a high voltage level, and the SF indication unit directs the second control switch to turn on and off alternatingly, and the LED module flashes accordingly.

Abstract: Disclosed are systems and methods for effecting international online financial transactions between individuals or between individuals and entities such as banks, merchants and other companies. In one embodiment, one aspect of the invention is to provide an authentication system and security monitoring system to detect and prevent fraud. User usage patterns may also be identified and a user risk profile developed. In another embodiment, transactional amount limits may be updated based on the user risk profile. In addition, the user risk profile may be updated based on credit and debt information for the user.

Abstract: A method for controlling a position of a laser spot of a laser beam on an optical storage medium of a land and groove recording/reproduction type is provided. The method includes: detecting a pulse occurring in a reference signal while the laser spot is passing through a boundary between a groove track and a land track, wherein the reference signal is generated according to a reflected laser beam from the optical storage medium; determining a compensation value of the reference signal according to the pulse; utilizing the compensation value to adjust the reference signal for generating an adjusted reference signal; and utilizing the adjusted reference signal to control the position of the laser spot.

Abstract: A method for improving readability of an optical disc includes: changing a first control parameter of an optical storage apparatus that accesses the optical disc and obtaining a plurality of associated values of an index corresponding to the readability of the optical disc for respective changed/unchanged values of the first control parameter; setting the first control parameter to be an optimal value out of the changed/unchanged values of the first control parameter according to the index; changing a second control parameter with the first parameter set to be the optimal value to obtaining a plurality of associated values of the index for respective changed/unchanged values of the second control parameter; and setting the second control parameter to be an optimal value according to the index. The control parameters having their individual optimal values are utilized for further control during decoding. In addition, an associated optical storage apparatus is further provided.

Abstract: A method for multiplexing and mapping services to an Optical channel Transport Unit (OTU) includes: filling the service data into a container block covering an Optical channel Payload Unit (OPU) area container having at least one frame. The container block includes at least one OPU area container having a frame. The OPU area container is composed of at least one OPU area sub-timeslot, and is configured to fill the service clock information into the Optical Channel Payload Unit Overload (OPU OH) area. A device for multiplexing and mapping services to an OTU is provided in an embodiment of the present invention.

Abstract: A toner cartridge includes a housing, a wheel and a grating tube. The housing has a chamber for accommodation of toner, and an outlet in communication between the chamber and the outside. The wheel is rotatably connected the housing. The grating tube is coaxially connected to the wheel and defines several transparent areas and several opaque areas. The grating tube is made of transparent material and covered with several opaque layers defining the opaque areas such that the toner cartridge has the advantages of flexible application, being compatible with different types of image-forming apparatuses, and reducing manufacturing cost.

The fabricating method can make the produced earphone to be more reliable and thus can effectively avoid from being disassembled caused by an external force or unexpected falling, and therefore the internal components thereof can be effectively protected from damage.

Abstract: An etching method for forming a multi-step surface on a substrate includes: (1) coating a first photo-resist layer on a predetermined surface of the substrate; (2) coating a second photo-resist layer on the first photo-resist layer, the second photo-resist layer having a characterization opposite to that of the first photo-resist layer; (3) exposing the second photo-resist layer through a first mask so as to form a first removal region; (4) developing the second photo-resist layer to remove the first removal region; (5) exposing the first photo-resist layer through a second mask so as to form a second removal region; (6) developing the first photo-resist layer to remove the second removal region; and (7) etching the predetermined surface of the substrate and the multi-step pattern to form a multi-step surface on the substrate. The present invention also discloses an etching method for forming features on an ABS of a slider.

Abstract: An active/standby switchover device and an active/standby switchover method of an asynchronous backplane in a transport network are provided. A local oscillator clock is adopted to obtain a clock of a working path, so as to replace the clock of the working path tracked in a phase-locked loop mode. An active/standby switchover operation is realized by using the local oscillator clock, so that the implementation cost is greatly reduced, and the hysteresis problem of the phase-locked loop tracking clock during the active/standby clock switchover is eliminated, thereby effectively achieving the lossless switchover of services.

Abstract: A headphone includes a hanger and two speaker units respectively disposed at the two ends of the hanger. Each speaker unit includes a first shell; a second shell engaged with the first shell, a first air passage being formed between the first shell and the second shell, a second air passage being formed on the second shell, the second air passage having an opening direction different from an opening direction of the first air passage; a cover engaged with the second shell and having a plurality of holes on the cover; and a speaker disposed between the first shell and the second shell. When the speaker outputs sound, airflows generated by the speaker are exhausted through the first air passage, the second air passage and the holes so that the amount of air exhaust is stable and the output audio is of high quality.

Abstract: The static and dynamic characteristics of smoke are developed for extracting smoke pixels of an image and effective smoke detection. In static characteristic, a chromaticity-based analysis is employed to extract grayish pixels in the moving region from a monitored area. Then, a circumference-based disorder measurement in dynamic characteristic is developed to obtain the smoke pixels from the grayish pixels. To enhance the reliability of alarming, a fuzzy system is introduced to judge if the smoke will spread out by checking its growth-rate.

Abstract: The invention provides a method for preventing fencing during process of forming an ABS on a slider substrate includes the steps of: (a) providing a slider substrate having a photo-resist covered thereon, the photo-resist having a plurality of trenches developed thereon, the plurality of trenches collectively defining an air bearing surface pattern, the plurality of trench each having at least a non-vertical sidewall, the at least non-vertical sidewall including a zigzag-shaped edge adjoining the slider substrate; (b) etching the photo-resist by oxygen ions, such that the zigzag-shaped edge is trimmed to be a straight edge and the at least non-vertical sidewall is trimmed to be a vertical sidewall; and(c) etching the slider substrate exposed from the trenches such that a fencing-free air-bearing surface is formed on the slider substrate.

According to one illustrative embodiment, the method includes receiving an initial netlist comprising components and connection paths among the components. The method further includes identifying one or more skew-influencing features in a first connection path in the initial netlist that lack corresponding skew-influencing features in a second connection path in the initial netlist. The method also includes generating a skew-corrected netlist wherein the second connection path includes one or more added skew-influencing features corresponding to those of the first connection path. The method further includes outputting the skew-corrected netlist.
