This multiscale filtering includes receiving an input image to be filtered and then performing a multiscale filtering process in which an input image is, at different resolution scales, denoised, downscaled, upscaled, and fused with a result of a lower resolution scale, to generate a filtered image. This may include temporarily buffering intermediate image data for some of the resolution scales at a memory using direct memory access (DMA) operations.
