    Abstract: Various communication systems may benefit from an improved signaling protocol. For example, communication systems may benefit from an improved network support for a narrowband internet of things in a hosting long term evolution carrier. A method, in certain embodiments, includes shifting a frequency of a downlink long term evolution channel by a pre-determined amount. The shift causes a duplex distance between the downlink long term evolution channel and an uplink long term evolution channel to change. The method includes blanking at least one overlapping radio resource in at least one of the uplink long term evolution channel or an uplink narrowband internet of things channel. The uplink narrowband internet of things channel and the uplink long term evolution channel at least partially overlap. In addition, the method includes receiving data on the uplink narrowband internet of things channel and an additional uplink narrowband internet of things channel at a network entity from a user equipment.

    Abstract: This invention relates to segment copolymer comprising rigid and soft segments wherein the soft segments are doped with a wax. A model polymer of this new type can be synthesized by the free radical copolymerization of methyl methacrylate (MMA) (39 wt %), lauryl, methacrylate (LMA) (10 wt %) and an adduct monomer of glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) and 1-dodecylamine (DDA). Doping with paraffin wax is one suitable approach to obtain the inventive material. The invention further relates to a simple and low-cost process to make these polymers and coatings comprising the polymers. Using the polymer material a coating with a highly icephobic surface can be obtained comprising soft hydrophobic micro domains segregated and stabilized by rigid copolymer on its surface. The icephobic behaviour may find new application in aerospace applications.

    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a process for making a comb-like polymer comprising the following steps of reacting an epoxy-functionalized monomer with a nucleophile comprising a C8-C20-alkyl group or halogen substituted C8-C20-alkyl group in the presence of an aqueous medium and polymerizing the reaction product. The comb-like polymer has functional groups on its backbone and long hydrophobic side chains. It can even be produced as a shell on a submicron sphere according to an alternative process according to the invention. The polymers obtainable by the inventive process can be polymerized with polyurethane prepolymers to achieve coating surfaces that show superhydrophobicity (see FIG.). Such coatings can have numerous applications especially in the aircraft industry for paints used on the airplane wings, because they avoid water droplet building.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a process for preparing fluorinated core-shell polymer particles in which the core is a non-fluorinated polymer and the shell is derived from at least 50% by weight of fluorinated monomers, by 1) synthesizing a core polymer latex by aqueous emulsion polymerization of non-fluorinated monomers forming the core polymer, 2) adding the shell-forming fluorinated monomers or mixtures of at least 50% by weight of fluorinated monomers with non-fluorinated monomers to the core polymer latex of step 1) and allowing for at least one hour of equilibration time in which essentially no polymerization of the shell monomers occurs, 3) reacting the shell-forming monomers in the mixture from step 2) to form the core-shell polymer particles, wherein the process steps 1) to 3) are carried out under mechanical stirring in the absence of surfactants, emulsifiers, emulsifying monomers and mixtures thereof.
