  • Patent number: 7920446
Abstract: An apparatus includes a first circuit and a second circuit. The first circuit may be configured to generate status signals and an error signal in response to accessing a storage medium. The error signal provides a first value based on an accuracy of accessing the storage medium. The second circuit may be configured to offset the first value of the error signal to a second value to increase the accuracy of accessing said storage medium. The status signals include one or more of a data signal and a differential signal. In a first mode, an offset signal is generated in response to the data signal. In a second mode, the offset signal is generated in response to the differential signal.

  • Patent number: 7633840
Abstract: An apparatus comprising a focus controller, a photo-diode sensor, a data circuit, a focus error creation circuit and a focus offset circuit. The focus controller may be configured to control a lens in relation to a laser beam and allow the laser beam to focus on a disc. The photo-diode sensor may be configured to generate one or more photo-diode signals in response to the laser beam. The data circuit may be configured to generate one or more disc status signals in response to the one or more photo-diode signals. The focus error creation circuit may generate a focus error signal. The focus error signal may provide a first value based on a focus point of the laser beam. The focus offset circuit may be configured to offset the first value of the focus error signal to a second value in response to the disc status signals to allow the focus controller to move the lens to a position which will increase the focus point of the laser beam on the disc.

  • Patent number: 7583571
Abstract: An apparatus comprising a first circuit, a second circuit and a third circuit. The first circuit may be configured to (i) generate a read power signal and (ii) control power of a laser beam emitted from an optical pick-up circuit during a read process. The second circuit may be configured to (i) generate a first write power signal and (ii) control one or more power levels of the laser beam during a write process in response to a second write power signal. The third circuit may be configured to generate the second write power signal and a third write power signal in response to a target write signal.
