  • Publication number: 20160113082
Abstract: A visible light communication (VLC) transceiver includes a substrate, a lens module and a plurality of channel units. The channel units are disposed on the substrate in an array to provide different bidirectional communication channels. Wherein, each of the channel units respectively includes at least one light-emitting diode (LED). The LED serves as a visible light emitter in an illumination time slot, and the LED serves as a visible light receiver in a dark time slot. The channel units can enhance communication bandwidth by using modulation technology such as spatial multiplexing or time multiplexing. The lens module is disposed on an optical path of the channel units. The lens module actively tracks the receiving situation of the visible light receiver to improve the signal quality of high-speed multiplexing communication.

  • Patent number: 7768890
Abstract: The present invention is to provide an apparatus and method for calibrating focus balance in an optical disk drive. A focus servo unit controls a pick-up head to focus and read a mark for generating an RF signal. A jitter generator separates a jitter signal from the RF signal to form a jitter frequency. A focus balance unit compares sequential jitter frequencies to check the convergence and the goal, and determines the direction and variable of calibrating focus balance to generate an error signal. A compensator receives the error signal through the focus servo unit to control the pick-up head for calibrating focus balance.

  • Publication number: 20090317033
Abstract: An integrated circuit (IC) including at least a first and a second logical blocks and a photonic board is provided. The photonic board connects with the first and the second logical blocks through a eutectic bonding technology, and communicates at least a logical signal of the first logical block to the second logical block by light conduction.

  • Publication number: 20040125840
Abstract: An oxide-confined vertical cavity surface emitting laser (VCSEL) device and the method for manufacturing the same are disclosed. After completing the oxidation procedure for the oxide-confined VCSEL, a filling material is deposited on the etched groove. This procedure can planarize the etched device surface for subsequent fabrication of a metal electrode. The invention can improve the device yield and the properties at the same time.

  • Publication number: 20030227952
Abstract: This specification discloses a VCSEL (Vertical Cavity Surface-Emitting Laser) device with single-mode output. This device is given by coating a layer of antireflection-coating (AR-coating) film on a normal VCSEL device with multiple transverse mode output and forming a light-emitting window on the AR-coating film. Since the AR-coating film can lower the reflectivity of the VCSEL device with multiple transverse mode output and the Bragg reflector at the bottom of the AR-coating film, it is easier to form single-mode laser light when the current flows through areas not covered by the AR-coating film, outputting a single-mode laser beam. Through the power-current character curve and the spectrum properties, one can find an optimal electrical current value for controlling single-mode light output.

  • Patent number: 6147367
Abstract: An LED package assembly comprising two or more light emitting diode dies within an epoxy housing such that a wider light emitting angle with a higher light intensity everywhere around the package including its bottom part is obtained. The LED package can be a substitute for bulb illumination or serving some decorative functions. Furthermore, the LED has low power consumption, a tough body and a long working life. Moreover, a cluster of these LEDs in a large display screen is capable of enhancing clarity of vision and the range of observation from a few meters to a few kilometers away.
