The treatment comprises administering a pre-sensitizing agent to a tumor or subject, and administering a cancer therapy to the tumor cells or subject. The pre-sensitizing agent increases or induces the apoptosis of the tumor cells, as compared to the rate of apoptosis of tumor cells that have not been pre-sensitized prior to receiving the cancer therapy. In another aspect, the invention relates to a kit comprising a pre-sensitizing agent and a cancer therapy.
