    Abstract: A stereoscopic image display apparatus having patterned retarder is described. The stereoscopic image display apparatus having patterned retarder includes an array substrate, a polarized plate and a film-type patterned retarder (FPR). The array substrate includes a gate driver, a source driver, a plurality of pixel units and a plurality of transistor control modules. Each pixel unit corresponds to first scan line, second scan line and third scan line respectively. Each of the pixel units includes at least two data lines wherein the first scan line, the second scan line and the third scan line are insulatedly interlaced with the at least two data lines. A polarized plate receives a light beam passing through the array substrate to generate a linear polarized light beam. A film-type patterned retarder disposed on the polarized plate receives the light beam passing through the array substrate for generating the three-dimensional image on the polarized glasses.

    Abstract: A pixel structure adapted to a vertical alignment (VA) mode liquid crystal display (LCD) device is provided. The pixel structure includes a plurality of comb-shaped electrodes and a plurality of pixel transistors. The comb-shaped electrodes are interdigitated in a pairwise manner and thereby constitute at least one comb-shaped electrode pair. The pixel transistors respectively are electrically coupled to the comb-shaped electrodes. The comb-shaped electrodes respectively are electrically coupled to receive a plurality of data voltages through the respective pixel transistors and whereby at least a part of the data voltages are different, and the data voltages received by the two comb-shaped electrodes of each comb-shaped electrode pair are different from each other. Moreover, a VA mode LCD device using the pixel structure and a pixel driving method adapted thereto are also provided.

    Abstract: A liquid crystal display (LCD) device is disclosed. The LCD device comprises a plurality of pixel units arranged in the form of a matrix. Each of the pixel units comprises: a scan line; a data line; a first storage capacitor; a liquid crystal capacitor; and a first TFT, having a source electrically connected to the data line, a gate electrically connected to the scan line, and a drain electrically connected to the first storage capacitor. Each of the pixel units further comprises a second TFT, having a gate, a source electrically connected to the drain of the first TFT, and a drain electrically connected to the liquid crystal capacitor. The gates of the second TFTs are electrically connected with each other to control the second TFTs to be turned on simultaneously so as to tilt the liquid crystal molecules. Because this shortens the time to wait for scanning of the gates is shortened and increases the time duration in which the backlight can emit light, the number of LEDs can be reduced to lower the cost.

    Abstract: A stereoscopic display system and a driving method thereof are disclosed. The stereoscopic display system comprises a display unit, a pair of shutter glasses and a backlight unit. The pair of shutter glasses comprises a left eyeglass and a right eyeglass for watching a left-eye signal and a right-eye signal respectively at different times. Both the left eyeglass and the right eyeglass operate synchronously with the display unit and are turned on and off alternately to watch the left-eye signal and the right-eye signal at different times. The backlight unit provides planar light rays for the display unit. The backlight unit comprises a plurality of light emitting regions which are arranged in a direction identical to a scanning direction of the display unit. The light emitting regions are turned on sequentially in the scanning direction. A turn-on time of each of the light emitting regions corresponds to a transmissivity of the pair of shutter glasses.

The driving method comprises: a. dividing scan lines into a plurality of groups each comprising a plurality of scan lines; b. during displaying of a current image frame, using a scan driver to scan each group of scan lines sequentially, c. during displaying of a next image frame, using the scan driver to scan each group of scan lines sequentially; and d. if each scan line in the group has been scanned once simultaneously with an adjacent scan line within a predetermined time interval, then the step b is executed; otherwise, the step c is executed. The LCD drive circuit and the driving method thereof according to the present disclosure can increase an average charging time of pixel units without compromising the accuracy of image frames.

Each pixel has a first gate line for providing a first gate-line signal for charging the first and second storage capacitors, and a second gate line for providing a second gate-line signal for removing part of the charges in the second storage capacitor to a third capacitor after the first gate-line signal has passed. The width of the first and second gate-line signals and their timing can be varied so that the first gate-line signal provided to a row can be used as the second gate-line signal to one of the preceding rows. In some embodiments, a pixel in each row has a duplicate pixel arranged to similarly receive the first and second gate-line signals, but data signals are received from different data lines.

This simplifies the assembling operation, allows of easy maintenance and replacement of the circuit board, makes it possible to efficiently remove the circuit board cover for conducting flaw inspection and related electrical test on the circuit board, improves the production efficiency of liquid crystal display devices, and lowers down the manufacturing cost.

    Abstract: An LCD panel and method for forming the same are proposed. The LCD panel includes a TFT substrate, an opposite substrate, and a liquid crystal LC layer sandwiched between the TFT substrate and the opposite substrate. The opposite substrate includes main spacers for sparing space between the TFT substrate and the opposite substrate and secondary spacers. The TFT substrate includes TFTs and color filters with recesses. The secondary spacers fit the recesses, and the secondary spacers do not touch the TFT substrate. Not only a thickness of the LCD panel is adjustable when the liquid crystal is injected between the TFT substrate and the opposite substrate, but also the optical characteristics of the LCD panel can not change to effect display quality when the LCD panel is squeezed by force.

The first data lines and the second data lines are arranged parallel with each other in a second direction and insulatedly intersect the charging scanning lines and the discharging scanning lines. When two adjacent charging scanning lines are being scanned in the LCD panel, two adjacent discharging scanning lines located in other rows different from those of the two adjacent charging scanning lines being scanned are scanned within a same scanning time frame.
