Patent number: 11530578Abstract: The invention concerns a bend stiffener (10, 32) for locally protecting an elongate flexible member (14) from excessive curvature when the elongate flexible member is deployed in water. The bend stiffener comprises an elongate stiffener body (34) which has a root end, a free end, and a passage (36) extending through the stiffener body from the root end to the free end for receiving and embracing the flexible member. A coupling (16) at or toward the root end of the stiffener body serves to mount the stiffener body. The stiffener body is sufficiently flexible to curve somewhat along with the flexible member when the flexible member suffers a bending load and carries a sensor module which is located proximate the free end of the bend stiffener and is configured to sense inclination and/or orientation and/or movement of the free end of the bend stiffener.Type: GrantFiled: May 2, 2019Date of Patent: December 20, 2022Assignee: CRP SUBSEA LIMITEDInventors: Austin Harbison, Hussain Mohammed Bilal

Patent number: 11118636Abstract: A transmission system includes a clutch control valve assembly having an armature for adjusting a valve, rested upon metallic slide bearings under the force of gravity. The armature includes a core material that is metallic and magnetically soft, an outer thin-film coating that is non-metallic, and a backing substrate material for supporting the outer thin-filmed coating interposed the core material and the outer thin-film coating. The backing substrate material may be case hardened material derived from the core material, such as ferritic nitrocarburized (FNC) iron. The outer thin film coating may be a diamond-like carbon (DLC) material.Type: GrantFiled: October 15, 2019Date of Patent: September 14, 2021Assignee: Caterpillar Inc.Inventors: Bao Feng, Andrew Henry Nippert, Qursheed Hussain Mohammed

Patent number: 9294808Abstract: A transmission signal having a sequence of logical frames embed therein, is constructed such that each logical frame has a useful data section, wherein consecutive access units of an access unit stream are consecutively inserted into the useful data section of the sequence of logical frames, wherein each logical frame into which a begin of an access unit falls, has an access unit table having, per begin of the access units falling into the respective logical frame, a pointer pointing thereto.Type: GrantFiled: March 2, 2012Date of Patent: March 22, 2016Assignee: Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft zur Foerderung der angewandten Forschung e.V.Inventors: Alexander Zink, Christian Kellermann, Hussain Mohammed, Nikolaus Faerber, Herbert Thoma

Publication number: 20150014427Abstract: A control valve of a fuel injector includes a generally cylindrical control valve housing having an axis, and a control valve body disposed within the control valve housing. An inlet throttle passage is in fluid communication with the control valve housing and is oriented to be generally tangential to the control valve housing.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 6, 2012Publication date: January 15, 2015Applicant: International Engine Intellectual Property Company, LLCInventors: William Yunbiao Shen, Yan Tan, Qursheed Hussain Mohammed, Keith Steven Schulz

Patent number: 8480009Abstract: A low leakage large bore fuel system includes a common rail fluidly connected to at least one of a source of heavy fuel oil and a source of distillate diesel fuel. A plurality of fuel injectors are fluidly connected to the common rail and each include a cooling inlet and a cooling outlet. Each fuel injector also includes an electrical actuator coupled to a direct operated nozzle check valve by a pilot valve member and a control valve member. Fuel leakage is reduced between injection events by equalizing pressures in a pilot control chamber and an intermediate control chamber that are separated by a guide surface of the control valve member. Also, between injection events the pilot valve member blocks a drain outlet from a common rail inlet of the fuel injector.Type: GrantFiled: July 30, 2010Date of Patent: July 9, 2013Assignee: Caterpillar Inc.Inventors: Christopher D. Hanson, Stephen Lewis, Qursheed Hussain Mohammed
