  • Patent number: 8194665
Abstract: The invention pertains to utilizing a data packet with a header extended to contain information dealing with the payload. Specifically, IEEE 802.1Q standard contains an extendable header which is normally utilized to contain information regarding a VLAN. However, these fields can also be utilized to provide information about the payload of the data packet. In this manner, networking devices which are primarily concerned with layer 2 data-link layer protocols can transmit information according to the information being transmitted by the packet.

  • Patent number: 6757551
Abstract: This invention provides a single unit called a personal communicator that combines the functions of a cell phone (or mobile phone), a body-supported computer and a pager. The personal communicator has three detachable modules: 1. a communications module; 2. a display module; and 3. a core computer module The core computer module has all of the components of a general purpose computer. Each of the modules when detached can be used in other systems such as with larger screens.

  • Publication number: 20040103144
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention relate to systems and methods for communicating with smart telemetry devices as Web Services. Communication between a software application and a smart telemetry is facilitated by a server. The server accepts a request from the application, forwards the request to the smart telemetry devices, receives information from the smart telemetry device, and returns the information to the software application. The server communicates with the software application via a Web Service technology. The server communicates with the smart telemetry device either via a Web Service technology or via a protocol native to the smart telemetry device. In an exemplary embodiment of the invention, a gas or liquid tank is monitored by a system that includes a software application, a smart telemetry device, a device providing user alerts, and a server.

  • Patent number: 6421232
Abstract: The invention is essentially a flat panel display, preferably for use with wearable computers, which utilizes a display which is separate from the CPU, which can perform as a static flat panel display when connected to or in communication with the computer, but can also function as a thin client PDA when independent from the computer to which it was originally connected. The device will look and function as a flat panel display and include integral activation means either through stylus, touch panel, integrated pointing device, voice, or other activation means. This activation means will be available whether the device is functioning as a display or as a thin client PDA. The device will be small enough to be worn, carried or otherwise supported by the user, but can be utilized independently as a PDA to perform data input, calendars and scheduling, memo inputting and other thin client functions, and will run a thin client operating system such as Windows® CE or Palm® OS.

  • Patent number: 6157533
Abstract: This invention involves the use of a number of component-containing modules each assembled together to form a conventional computer except that the computer is body worn and has heat-controlling aspects. One of the heat-controlling aspects is at least one or preferably each side of the module has a heat-air vent as a component of its side. Another heat-controlling item is the selection of heat or non-heat conducting materials to construct the module sides. It is preferable that module sides adjacent a user's body be of a heat-insulating material.
