  • Publication number: 20130290766
Abstract: A source-synchronous communication system in which a first integrated circuit (IC) conveys a data signal and concomitant strobe signal to a second IC. One or both ICs support hysteresis for the strobe channel that allows the second IC to distinguish between strobe preambles and noise, and thus prevent the false triggering of data capture. Hysteresis may also be employed to quickly settle the strobe channel to an inactive level after receipt of a strobe postamble.

  • Publication number: 20130262937
Abstract: Systems, methods, and other embodiments associated with detecting a node death in a clustered distributed system are described. In one embodiment, a method includes transmitting a ping message to a peer node in the network. If a reply to the ping message is not received from the peer node, a query is sent to table of port identifiers that lists ports in the cluster. In one embodiment, the query includes a port identifier associated with the peer node. The peer node is declared as inactive/dead when the query fails to locate a match in the table for the port identifier. When the query locates a match in the table for the port identifier, another ping message is periodically transmitted to the peer node.

  • Publication number: 20130004590
Abstract: Compositions and methods for treating and/or preventing conditions such as diaper rash and atopic dermatitis are disclosed. The compositions and methods are particularly useful in the treatment and prevention of diaper rash and diaper dermatitis caused by the prolonged contact of human skin with body waste. The methods employ the topical application of a trypsin-inhibiting agent to the area in need of such treatment, or the area where prevention is desired. The trypsin-inhibiting agent is preferably zinc oxide in combination with an acid so as to release a specified divalent cation, i.e., zinc.

  • Publication number: 20120331570
Abstract: A container that manages access to protected resources using rules to intelligently manage them includes an environment having a set of software and configurations that are to be managed. A rule engine, which executes the rules, may be called reactively when software accesses protected resources. The engine uses a combination of embedded and configurable rules. It may be desirable to assign and manage rules per process, per resource (e.g. file, registry, etc.), and per user. Access rules may be altitude-specific access rules.

  • Publication number: 20120330985
Abstract: Techniques to automatically build a language dependency graph for localizable resources are described. A technique may include storing resources from a file in a translation database with data that indicates the language that the resource is in, the entity that created that version of the resource, and a dependency, if any, on a different language version of the resource. Subsequent translations of a resource may also be stored in the translation database in a manner that groups the translated version(s) of a resource to the original resource, and also stores the language of the resource, the entity that translated it, and the dependency to the language from which the resource was translated. A language dependency graph may be generated from the translation database for a file, where the graph reflects the languages of translation and dependency relationships among the translations. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

  • Publication number: 20120303936
Abstract: In a processor having an instruction unit, a decode/issue unit, and execution queues configured to provide instructions to correspondingly different types execution units, a method comprises maintaining a duplicate free list for the execution queues. The duplicate free list includes a plurality of duplicate dependent instruction indicators that indicate when a duplicate instruction for a dependent instruction is stored in at least one of the execution queues. One of the duplicate dependent instruction indicators is assigned to an execution queue for a dependent instruction. The dependent instruction is executed only when the one of the duplicate dependent instruction indicators is reset.

  • Publication number: 20120131660
Abstract: A security token service generates a security token for a user that is associated with a client and stores the full security token within a memory. The security token includes an identity claim that represents the identity of the generated security token. Instead of passing the entire security token back to the client, the identity claim is returned to the client. For each request the client makes to the service, the client passes the identity claim in the request instead of the full security token having all of the claims. The identity claim is much smaller then the full security token. When a computing device receives the identity claim within the request from the user, the identity claim is used to access the full security token that is stored in memory.

  • Patent number: 8127089
Abstract: The transmission of buffered data is coordinated between a storage medium and a host in response to a request from the host. One or more blocks of data are transferred from the storage medium to a buffer memory. One or more frames of data are transmitted from the buffer memory to the host, wherein the number of blocks ending in the frame is recorded in a blocks/frame register, and possibly also in a block count accumulator register. Buffer release pulses for releasing buffer space in memory are sent to the buffer memory, based on the number of blocks in the blocks/frame register, or the number of blocks accumulated in the block count accumulator register when a signal is received from the host. A pointer which points to the last block of data successfully transferred is updated in accordance with the buffer release pulses.

  • Patent number: 8115127
Abstract: The present invention relates generally to a rotary handle. More particularly, the invention encompasses a deliberate action rotary handle. The invention further includes an extended drive-plate deliberate action rotary handle, such that to turn on a component, such as, a circuit breaker, requires a deliberate manual action by the user. If a deliberate action is not taken by a user but the handle is accidentally pushed then the handle does not engage with a drive shaft and the handle moves to an outer edge of a drive plate thus preventing the engagement of the handle with the other components to turn on the component.

  • Patent number: 8004829
Abstract: A mechanism for protecting a portable electronic device, e.g., a handheld computer system. In one embodiment, the present invention is comprised of an encasing structure having an opening and configured to receive and have disposed therewithin the handheld computer system. The present invention is further comprised of a lifting device coupled to the encasing structure. The lifting device is adapted to raise the handheld computer system above the confines of the encasing structure and further adapted to lower the handheld computer system to a disposition therewithin the encasing structure. The encasing structure can be used to protect input/output ports or slots, I/Os externally disposed on side surfaces of the handheld computer system when the handheld computer system is disposed within the encasing structure, and the lifting device enables raising the handheld computer system above the confines of the encasing structure to provide access to the I/Os.
