  • Publication number: 20220248945
Abstract: A process to clean medical devices, such as endoscopes, with a turbulent cleaning solution is described. The process includes providing cleaning solution in a first delivery system and providing a gas in a second delivery system, wherein the first and second delivery system are connected to a third delivery system that allows the cleaning solution and gas to combine to provide a turbulent cleaning solution that can be passed through a lumen of a medical device. The process is generally accomplished by use of a peristaltic pump with two heads; one head for each of the delivery system. The resultant turbulent cleaning solution provides enough force to dislodge most body fluids, debris, bacteria and/or virus(es) from the surface of the medical device without the requirement for physical scrubbing or brushing of the surface.

  • Publication number: 20220195334
Abstract: This disclosure describes a composition which can provide real-time feedback during medical device cleaning or reprocessing. The composition can be used to monitor the amount of biological material cleaned from medical devices and to determine when cleaning is complete. The disclosure also relates to a method of cleaning, or assessing the cleanliness of, a medical device such as an endoscope. Cleanliness can be assessed by contacting the medical device with the composition, shining an excitation light on the composition, and measuring intensity of resulting fluorescence over time.

  • Publication number: 20210386278
Abstract: Embodiments of a system and method of use for endoscope fluorescence inspection are generally described herein. In an example embodiment, a fluorescence inspection device provides capabilities for internal inspection of an endoscope lumen through a handheld unit coupled to a light pipe that identifies fluorescence from residual biological material exposed to a fluorescing agent. In another example embodiment, a fluorescence inspection device provides capabilities for external inspection of an endoscope surface through a handheld unit which emits excitation light and identifies fluorescence of residual biological material exposed to the fluorescing agent. The embodiments may also include an output device to output an indication in response to a detection (or lack of detection) of the fluorescent light with the fluorescence inspection device. Additional use examples and device structures are also described.
