  • Publication number: 20090122754
Abstract: A method and system for allocating resources in a communication system are provided. The system includes a Base Station (BS) for allocating persistent resources included in a persistent resource area to one or more a Mobile Stations (MS) using the persistent resource area, for allocating an Identifier (ID) indicating an allocation order of the persistent resources to each of the one or more the MS using the persistent resource area, for transmitting resource allocation information including the ID and the number of slots included in the persistent resources to each of the one or more MSs using the persistent resource area, and for allocating dynamic resources to one or more MSs using a dynamic resource area, after the persistent resource allocation is completed for all of the one or more MSs using the persistent resource area. The persistent resource area includes successive persistent resources along a time axis and along a frequency axis.

  • Publication number: 20090074047
Abstract: An apparatus and method for estimating a Signal to Interference plus Noise Ratio (SINR) in a wireless communication system are provided. The method includes processing a received signal by Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) demodulation to convert the received signal into frequency-domain data, selecting ranging data from the frequency-domain data, multiplying the selected ranging data by a ranging code to perform code demodulation, calculating at least one norm value and at least one coherent norm value by bundle for the code-demodulated data and estimating an SINR using the calculated at least one norm value and at least one coherent norm value.

  • Publication number: 20080165677
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for estimating a Carrier to Interference and Noise Ratio (CINR) of an uplink channel in a wireless communication system are provided. The apparatus includes a subcarrier separator for separating subcarrier bundles from a received signal, a detector for calculating squares of correlation values acquired by correlating one or more codewords with signal streams of the separated subcarrier bundles, and a CINR estimator for estimating a CINR using a maximum value and an average value of the correlation value squares calculated at the detector. With the accurate CINR estimated, the channel information delivery and the stable system operation can be achieved.

  • Publication number: 20070265026
Abstract: An uplink (UL) power control apparatus and method in a broadband wireless communication system are provided. The Mobile Station (MS) includes a power controller for calculating a power compensation value using a last transmit power in a previous closed loop power control when a power control mode is changed to an open loop power control, and determining a transmit power according to the open loop power control using the power compensation value; and a transmitter for adjusting and transmitting the transmit power of a UL signal under control of the power controller.
