    Abstract: The present invention provides novel photopolymers for use in liquid crystal display. The photopolymers are cinnamate-containing photopolymers wherein a mesogen, preferably containing a benzene ring, is introduced between a polyvinyl main chain and a cinnamate group, and also wherein the cinnamate group can be substituted with a cyanide group, an alkyl group, a halogen atom or a fluorocarbonyl group. The cinnamate-containing photopolymers have improved stability and photoelectric properties, and improved pre-tilt angle. The photopolymers can be used to form an orientation film for an LCD in a non-rubbing process, and can be used alone or with a cross linking agent.
