  • Patent number: 9959434
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of operating a bi-directional communication system between a plurality of communication devices, which comprises at least one communication controller and a plurality of nodes including a first node. The method includes periodically broadcasting a beacon signal from said communication controller at a broadcast interval via a channel of a first host. The beacon signal contains a first address of the communication controller. The method further includes periodically scanning the beacon signal on the first host by the first node. Upon detecting of the beacon signal by the first node, the first node transmits an identification payload to the communication controller. Upon receipt of the identification payload by the communication controller, an acknowledgement signal is transmitted to the first node.

  • Patent number: 9572517
Abstract: A Baby Monitoring Mat is provided having a top mesh layer, a bottom mesh layer, two flexible sheets, and an optical cable. The optical cable can be routed between the top mesh layer and the bottom mesh layer. The flexible sheets are also between the top mesh layer and the bottom mesh layer forming a sensing area. A light source is provided for feeding light from one side of the optical cable to a photodiode for detecting light attenuation at the other end of the optical cable. A processor receives signals from the light source and photodiode and the signals are processed to determine movements and breath counts. The signals are generated based on the light attenuation changes along the optical fiber cable detected by photodiode. A method for monitoring baby on a mat is also provided.

  • Publication number: 20160324431
Abstract: A flexible optic fiber sensor film, a mat structure comprising the same and a method of use of the mat structure are provided. The flexible optic fiber sensor film comprises a sandwiched layer and an optic fiber cable arranged in the sandwiched layer; the flexible optic fiber sensor film further comprises protrusions arranged on the sandwiched layer to abut against the optic fiber cable. The flexible optic fiber sensor film is configured for generating light loss in the optic fiber cable when there are body movements of a human subject lying on top of the flexible optic fiber sensor film. The application is safe and comfortable to the human subject.
