The method includes: generating usage pattern information that contains pattern environment information of the portable terminal and function information corresponding to the pattern environment information; collecting current environment information of the portable terminal; searching for pattern environment information that is substantially identical to the collected current environment information; extracting function information corresponding to the searched pattern environment information; and configuring a graphic user interface (GUI) based on the extracted function information.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and system to provide service information to a portable terminal based on the location information associated with the portable terminal. The service information providing method is performed in such a way that a server acquires location information associated with the portable terminal and service information corresponding to the location information. The portable terminal may acquire and store the service information from the server. The portable terminal user can also identify new service information regarding a place where the user is located.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing a location information-based scheduling service is disclosed. The method includes determining a meeting point or appointed place based on location information associated with a plurality of portable terminals. The method includes suggesting various routes and means to travel to the appointed place; and providing data content to a user of a first portable terminal until one or more users associated with the other portable terminals arrive at the appointed place. The appointed place can be determined based on a distance between all the portable terminals and/or their respective movement times. Users can share their expected arrival times and information regarding their current locations while traveling towards the appointed place. If a portable terminal user requests a content while waiting for other users to arrive, the surplus time can be calculated and available contents can be provided within the surplus time.

Abstract: A mobile terminal and operational method may store or output log information related to usage histories according to at least one of a condition, location, and status indicated by situation information. The mobile terminal can be conveniently operated on the basis of past usage histories. The operation method for the mobile terminal includes: creating situation information on the basis of at least one of location information, status information and condition information of the mobile terminal; collecting log information related to usage histories of the mobile terminal from the time of situation information creation or within a preset time after situation information creation; linking the situation information with the log information and storing the linked information; and outputting, when new situation information equal to the stored situation information is created, log information linked to the stored situation information.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for providing a user interface for interacting to various touch events detected by multiple touch sensors formed on the different surfaces of a mobile terminal are provided. The method, for a mobile terminal having a first touch area and a second touch area, includes detecting a touch event that includes a first touch sensed on the first touch area and a second touch sensed on the second touch area, identifying a movement pattern of the touch event, and providing a user interface in accordance with the movement pattern. The apparatus and method for providing a user interface according to the present invention is advantageous to input various user commands intuitively using multi-touch gestures and improve utilization of the mobile terminal with enriched emotional expressions.

Abstract: A method of informing occurrence of an event and a mobile terminal using the same are disclosed. The method includes: determining whether a missed event occurs; sensing a user's attention to the mobile terminal; and informing the occurrence of the missed event when the user's attention is sensed. Since the mobile terminal informs the occurrence of the missed event only when the user gives attention to his/her mobile terminal, the number of times for informing the missed event is reduced and damage of people around the mobile terminal and power consumption of the mobile terminal caused by sound or vibration of informing the occurrence of the event can be minimized.
