    Abstract: Microspheres containing varenicline or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, and a biocompatible polymer are disclosed. And, a method for preparing the microspheres and a pharmaceutical composition containing the microspheres are disclosed. The microspheres containing varenicline exhibit a stable drug release rate over a long period of time and can maintain an effective concentration of varenicline in the blood for a certain period of time, thereby extending a drug administration cycle, and can increase a patient's medication compliance and reduce side effects caused by rapid initial burst of the drug.
