  • Patent number: 6880758
Abstract: In a system for identifying an object having a bar code symbology, a measurement and input unit measure a height and a length of the object and input the measured values into the system. An object image and search region image storage unit stores an image of the object and images of at least two sub blocks from the object. A search region setting unit sets a size of the sub blocks. A region of interest (ROI) generation unit sets a weight and a characteristic value of the sub block. A bar code symbology identification unit searches vertically a bar code region from the ROI and generates a bar code edge region. An information interpretation unit interprets object information corresponding to the bar code edge region. A result process and storage unit processes and stores the interpreted object information.

  • Publication number: 20030123730
Abstract: In a document recognition system, a document structure analysis unit extracts a character image region from an input document image. A character string extraction unit extracts a character string image from the character image region. A character extraction unit extracts an individual character image from the character string image expressed in vertical lines by vertical line adjacency graphs by changing a pixel representation of the extracted character string image into a vertical line representation thereof. A character recognition unit recognizes each character in the individual character image and converting the recognized character into a corresponding character code.

  • Publication number: 20020118874
Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for real-time automatically taking the length, width and height of a rectangular object that is moved on a conveyor belt. The method of taking the dimensions of a 3D object, the method comprising the steps of: a) obtaining an object image having the 3D object; b) detecting all edges within a region of interest of the 3D object; c) extracting line segments from the edges of the 3D object and then extracting features of the 3D object from the line segments; and d) generating 3D models based on the features of the 3D object and taking the dimensions of the 3D object from the 3D models.

  • Patent number: 6431447
Abstract: This invention is related to a system and a method for reading high precision printed barcodes and their specification verification. The presented invention has a technique of reading both logistic sorting barcode (one or two dimension) and multi-layered structure barcode such as four-state barcode for automatic postal matter sorting. The invention also investigates height of high densely reduced barcodes in more than 3 steps, and precisely measures and reads the values of black bars thickness and white spaces. Previous techniques used laser beam for reading barcodes, but could not read barcodes, which have print density of less than 1/100 mm˜1/1,000 mm unit, and, it was also impossible to read precise specification values in case that barcode specification was composed of length unit indexes. The presented invention overcomes the previous said problems by using a laser diode array.

  • Publication number: 20010010334
Abstract: There is disclosed a method of exactly delivering a mail item and a method of processing the mail item depending on the delivery result. Conventionally, if mail information to be delivered to a recipient is erroneously written, the mail item is automatically sorted based on the erroneous information. Also, if the recipient is unknown, the mail item is manually sorted to return it to the sender. Thus, this conventional method has problems that it requires a lot of time in processing the mail item. In order to overcome these problems, the present invention allows a mail customer to write correct mail information into his/her mail item upon printing of a customer barcode, notifies information on the delivery process to the mail customer, effectively returns a return mail item and notifies information on the processing state to the mail customer.
