The system for saving digital content classified by person-based clustering, includes a database to save a plurality of digital content classified by person-based clustering; a data structure generation unit to generate a data structure composed of a plurality of nodes using the plurality of digital content; a face recognition unit to extract a face descriptor of new digital content to be saved in the database; a cluster classification unit to classify the new digital content and the plurality of digital content by the person-based clustering using the extracted face descriptor, and a data structure update unit to update the data structure according to the classification.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method and apparatus for scrolling data displayed on a screen, dividing a display region as a multiple of predefined weighted areas and setting a scroll velocity weight corresponding to each of the multiple of weighted areas when there is scrollable undisplayed data, after displaying data on the display region corresponding to execution of an application. Scroll velocity weight is detected corresponding to the initially produced point of the scroll input when a scroll input is sensed t, and an actual movement distance is detected corresponding to the scroll input in real-time until the scroll input ends. A scroll movement distance is calculating in proportion to the detected scroll velocity weight and the actual movement distance, and the data is displayed by shifting the data in a proceeding direction of the scroll input by the calculated scroll movement distance.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing automatic international and local call dialing in a mobile communication terminal. Country identification information is received from a network in which the mobile communication terminal is currently located. When a request for an outgoing is received from a user, a country code corresponding to the received country identification information is extracted, and the extracted country code is compared with a country code included in a phone number for the outgoing call. Based on the comparison it is determined whether the outgoing call is an international or local call. The phone number is then changed in accordance with the outgoing call being the international or local call.

Abstract: A transcoding system and method effectively synchronize segmentation metadata with A/V content when converting an MPEG stream to another format stream using a segment browser. The transcoding system includes a timing synchronizer, which adjusts the timing parameters so that the video data can be synchronized with segmentation metadata even after the transcoding process, a transcoding condition determiner, which determines transcoding conditions suitable for an end user environment, and an encoder, which compresses a video sequence reconstructed from the video data according to the transcoding conditions determined by the transcoding condition determiner and records a presentation time stamp, which is one of the adjusted timing parameters, in the compressed video sequence.

Abstract: A method for recommending broadcasting contents, is performed by a multimedia contents reproducing device of a first user. The method includes the operations of logging a broadcasting contents viewing behaviour pattern of the first user and generating a first user profile; transmitting the generated first user profile to an external server by using a network; receiving a recommendation result about one or more recommended broadcasting contents from the server, wherein a preference degree correlation between the first user profile and a second user profile of at least a second user registered in an account of the first user is reflected in the recommendation result; classifying the one or more recommended broadcasting contents in the received recommendation result into broadcasting timetable categories; and displaying on a screen a recommendation result about the classified one or more recommended broadcasting contents.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for browsing a plurality of broadcast programs are provided. The method includes classifying a plurality of broadcast programs into one or more broadcast program groups with reference to electronic program guide (EPG) information or viewing records of a user regarding the broadcast programs, one-dimensionally arranging the broadcast programs so that the broadcast program groups are one-dimensionally arranged, displaying the broadcast programs and the broadcast program groups on a screen as a graphic image, and allowing the user to change a rule used for forming the broadcast program groups. Accordingly, it is possible to enable a user to effectively browse broadcast programs and to provide the user with a user interface customized for the user by using a simple one-dimensional input method and intuitively utilizing EPG information.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for automatically selecting and deleting unimportant content in order to secure a storage space in a digital multimedia device. The multimedia content is classified into content in which a storage period is set and content in which a storage period is not set and then the content is stored. The size of the content occupying a storage space in each storage type is automatically calculated to analyze a user's pattern of using the storage space when the storage space is insufficient, and content to be deleted is selected according to the analyzed pattern. Thus, it is possible to prevent the content which the user does not want to delete from being deleted and to eliminate the need for the user to individually manage the content.

Abstract: Provided is a path index lookup method, i.e., an extended markup language (XML) indexing method by which a relational database can stably process a query regardless of how a user defines the query. In the path index lookup method, a regular path expression with a certain length can be processed through a single joining operation using a PathLookup table and an ExtendedEdge table. Thus, a regular path expression query, which is a core type of XML user query, can be stably and quickly processed regardless of how a user describes the query.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for scheduling digital TV programs are provided. In the method of scheduling digital TV programs, if a user sets a timer preprogramming or reminder function on a segment basis using segment meta-data of a program to be broadcast, the timer preprogramming or reminder function is performed when the broadcast time of the at least one selected segment is reached. The apparatus includes an input stream management unit, which obtains TV program schedule information and segment information from a digital TV broadcast stream and transmits the TV program schedule information and the segment information to a segment database, and a schedule management unit, which manages a schedule of a digital TV program, including timer preprogramming and reminder function, in response to a user's timer preprogramming command. The user can timer preprogram a desired digital TV program on a segment basis without help from an external server.
