  • Publication number: 20060093920
Abstract: The present invention relates to a conductive agent/positive active material composite for a lithium secondary battery. The composite includes a positive active material capable of reversibly intercalating/deintercalating lithium ions, and a conductive agent on the surface of the positive active material. The conductive agent comprises a first conductive agent having a specific surface area ranging from about 200 to about 1500 m2/g and a second conductive agent having a specific surface area of about 100 m2/g or less.

  • Publication number: 20060093910
Abstract: A secondary battery includes an electrode assembly having a positive electrode, a negative electrode and a separator, and a case containing the electrode assembly therein. A cap assembly is attached to the case and has a positive electrode terminal and a negative electrode terminal. The positive and the negative electrodes have non-active material portions with no active material, and the positive and the negative electrode terminals are respectively electrically connected to the non-active material portions of the positive and the negative electrodes. A width of the electrode assembly W1 is greater than a width of the positive and negative electrode non-active material portions W2.

  • Publication number: 20060093904
Abstract: A secondary battery includes an electrode assembly having a positive electrode, a negative electrode and a separator interposed between the positive and negative electrodes and a container for receiving the electrode assembly inside thereof. The secondary battery also includes a cap assembly fixed to the container to seal the container and a gasket disposed between the container and the cap assembly. The gasket has at least one concavo-convex portion on a surface contacting the container and/or the cap assembly. This improved gasket structure enhances the air tightness of the secondary battery.

  • Publication number: 20060063068
Abstract: A secondary battery includes an electrode assembly including a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a separator interposed between the positive and negative electrodes, a case for housing the electrode assembly, a cap assembly to be attached to the case for sealing the case and to have a terminal exposed outside the case, and a lead element which electrically connects the electrode assembly to the terminal. The electrode assembly includes an uncoated region where an active material is not present and the lead element has a configuration corresponding to that of the uncoated region and is closely affixed to the uncoated region.
