Abstract: Disclosed is an automatic tissue microarray apparatus that includes: a sample module being drivable and providing a space for mounting at least one donor block and at least one recipient block; an extract module being drivable in at least two directions and having at least one punching tip for punching a tissue from the at least one donor block and arraying the punched tissue in the at least one recipient block; and a controller for controlling the driving operations of the sample module and the extract module and, in response to an externally applied command, the punching and arraying operations of the extract module. The present invention securely provides convenience in use with improved work efficiency and contributes to precision of punching and arraying operations.

Abstract: Disclosed is a mold for the preparation of recipient blocks, made from silicone, and a method of constructing a mold for the preparation of recipient blocks, comprising: charging a structure equipped with a mold in the form of a recipient block with silicone; curing the silicone; and separating the silicone mold for the preparation of recipient block from the structure. Also, a method is provided for preparing a recipient block, comprising: positioning the mold for the preparation of recipient blocks within a base mold; charging the base mold with a liquid material for the recipient block; solidifying the material and separating the base mold from the mold for the preparation of recipient blocks and the solidified material; and separating the mold for the preparation of recipient blocks from the solidified recipient block.

The present invention also discloses a method of preparing a recipient block, including (1) preparing an aqueous solution of an additive; (2) pouring the aqueous solution of the additive into a mold and cooling the mold to gelate the aqueous solution of the additive; (3) dehydrating the resulting additive gel in alcohol; (4) immersing the dehydrated additive gel in an organic solvent to make the dehydrated additive gel transparent; (5) penetrating a wax into the transparent additive gel to provide a block; and (6) providing a plurality of cylindrical holes in the block.
