The method includes counting the number of error blocks of a current frame to be decoded from among a plurality of frames included in the GOP; determining whether to display the current frame and one or more subsequent frames in accordance with the number of error blocks; and reorganizing a GOP with frames determined to be displayed and displaying the reorganized GOP.

Abstract: Provided are a method and apparatus for providing content. The apparatus includes a content acquisition information storage unit to store content acquisition information that is identified by a content identifier for content acquired through a bidirectional communication network and necessary to acquire the content by communication with a server that provides the content, a controller to allocate reduction information to the content acquisition information, and to search for the content acquisition information corresponding to the inputted reduction information when reduction information of the content is input, and a communicator to acquire the content from the server using the content acquisition information. Accordingly, a user can acquire Internet content through a communication network by selecting reduction information allocated to the Internet content.

Abstract: An apparatus for and a method of receiving an electronic program guide (EPG), the EPG receiving apparatus including: a receiving unit to receive basic EPG information and detailed EPG information corresponding to the basic EPG information from the server; a buffer to temporarily store the detailed EPG information; a control unit to request the detailed EPG information corresponding to the basic EPG information that is currently displayed on a screen, to receive the detailed EPG information from the server, and to store the detailed EPG information in the buffer; and a display unit to display selected detailed EPG information from among the detailed EPG information stored in the buffer and the basic EPG information. Accordingly, the detailed EPG information is provided to users within a short time period.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for managing a user schedule, the method including: receiving a reservation message from a service provider with which a service reservation by a user is registered; updating the user schedule by adding an entry to the user schedule according to information included in the reservation message; and providing the updated schedule of the user. According to the apparatus and method, the user can conveniently manage the schedule even when the user schedule information is not input manually.

Abstract: An apparatus for effectively managing a personal schedule and broadcasting programs includes a schedule management unit for managing a personal schedule, a broadcasting program management unit for managing basic information of broadcasting programs, an interface unit which receives an input signal, and a control unit which finds a first broadcasting program which overlaps with the personal schedule, searches for basic information for the first broadcasting program, and provides a first list including a title of the first broadcasting program, the basic information, and a display component for performing a control operation in response to an input signal.

Abstract: A stream recording method, apparatus, and system. When a packet loss is detected in packets constituting a stream while the stream transmitted from a server is recorded, the lost packet is retransmitted so as to be inserted into a specific portion of the recorded stream. Therefore, it is possible to reduce inconvenience and a waste of time required for downloading the whole stream to be recorded when the packet loss occurs during recording as well as to decrease a network load.

Abstract: A method of and apparatus for streaming audio/video (A/V) data. The method of streaming AV data from a server to a client includes receiving information on a reception environment of AV data from the client while streaming the AV data to the client, and changing an error correction method applied to at least one of video data and audio data in the AV data based on the received information. In this way, when a reception environment gets worse, the client can normally reproduce at least audio data, and thus quality of service (QoS), which a user reproducing the AV data recognizes, improves.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for providing broadcast programs. The method of providing a broadcast program in a client apparatus, includes generating final frame information identifying a frame corresponding to a broadcast watching stop time of a broadcast program that a user has been watching; transmitting the final frame information to a server that provides the broadcast program through the Internet; requesting the broadcast program from the server; receiving the broadcast program starting from a final frame searched for by the server based on the final frame information; and providing the broadcast program to the user. It is possible to provide a broadcast program from the stopped part of the broadcast program at a desired time after a user stops watching the broadcast program, even though the broadcast program is not recorded by the client apparatus.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus are provided for mixing and outputting plural audio signals included in plural services of a DMB/DAB device. The method includes receiving a DMB/DAB broadcast signal, outputting audio of a first service by extracting the first service from the received broadcast signal, selecting audio of a second service by extracting information of the second service from the received broadcast signal, mixing audio signals of the first and second services, and outputting the mixed signal.

Abstract: A method for booting a personal digital assistant (PDA) using an external memory card is provided. The method includes the steps of (a) preparing an external memory card in which a program for selecting a start-up command is stored, (b) executing a specific start-up command by booting the PDA, (c) executing a program for selecting other start-up commands by inserting the external memory card of the step (a) into the PDA when the step (b) is completed, and (d) executing jobs according to the start-up command selected in the step (c). The hardware switch function is replaced by software by executing a specific start-up command in advance and executing other start-up commands through the application program stored in the memory card of the personal computer during the booting of the PDA. Accordingly, it is possible to reduce fabrication expenses of the PDA, to minimize the PDA, and to flexibly cope with the change of the PDA system.
